Voter ticket-splitting could determine next Senate
October 13, 2012 at 7:50 am in Grand Forks Herald
The close race for majority control of the Senate comes down to whether Republican candidates in Massachusetts and Connecticut can win over President Barack Obama’s voters and Democrats from Indiana to Arizona can impress Mitt Romney’s GOP backers. Continue Reading

Best guess (unless something really drastic happens): Heidi takes ND by the slimmest margin in 50 years. Richard Carmona, the former Surgeon General under Bush II but who is running as a Dem takes AZ. The GOP picks up a few seats in the east & Midwest. Net result is +/- 2 seats for either party. Dems retain control of the Senate. GOP keep the house.
As stated before: the Big O by 5 points.
In other words 4 more years of the same. The only real wild card is how many Supreme Court Justices will resign. That is where the real battle will take place.

I’d stay away from the race track if I were you, FN. Heitkamp came into the race having to disassociate herself from her love affair with Obama. I don’t care for Berg, but I don’t believe Heidi can fool enough voters to win. I see Berg 51-49 or 52-48.
As for Barry, the jury is still out. Depends how many want four more years of him.

Up until a few weeks ago I would have agreed with you about Heidi. Berg just leaves a sour taste in too many people’s mouth. The old “didn’t even finish what he is doing and now he wants to do something else” syndrome. That and his record is so 100% party line that he is a caricature. Pull the string, he raises his hand.
I agree that Heidi has a lot of baggage, but lets face it, Berg should be leading by 10 points minimum and he is lucky to be running neck and neck. He should have heartburn and trouble sleeping.
Unless something drastically changes, he might have to go back to work at a real job.

Just write in “Tundrabeast” I guarntee yhou I’ll do something that the other candidates wont…….Get both sides to agree for the first time in a long time…..I’d have them all saying, “We hate him…He wont play ball with either side.”
Remember that short lived series several years ago with Josh Bolin where he was the son of a democratic senator who died so they talked him into filling out his fathers term. Once there he found a guy who knew all the loop holes and wouldn’t let either side get nonsense through just because some big mone interest was pushing it……Well that was Hollywood….My luck I’d find some smart ass who thought he knew loop holes and find myself in Levenworth for treason or something….

A vote for Berg is a vote to bring the gridlock of the House of Representatives to the Senate. Not a positive as far as I’m concerned. Heitkamp is a moderate willing to compromise to get the job done.
