He doesn’t stand up to or for anything…….And with the sabor rattling towards Iran……I think old Mitt would jump at the first suggestion to nuke….

Because much like “JFK,” it was based on pure speculation. It was meant to manipulate the audience by getting Burt Lancaster as the organizer and Grandpa Walton, Will Geer, as the head Texas honcho. The Texas rednecks could never have set up scenario. It was all the protocols that were ignored that led some to believe it was the govt that did it.

The best books now point to the CIA as the instigator. The film “Executive Action” was more than speculation. For example the scene where Sept. 25th is flashed on the screen & it shows the conspirators taking pictures of JFK’s motorcade with gun scopes mounted on cameras was actually a ref. to the day JFK was in Grand Forks from about 10:30 am to 1pm. The scene is actually Sept. 27th footage from his motorcade a few days later in Redding, Calif. & was then used to portray the assassins stalking JFK on the 25th in GF. The same night of the 25th the Whitehouse agreed to extend the Texas trip by 1/2 day or so so he could go to Dallas. The Secret Service trip records for GF were shredded by the SS when the Assassination Records Review Board asked for them in about 95. In the National archives the SS trip records for JFK’s GF appearance are marked “withdrawn for national security purposes”. I saw the notation in the file @ the archives. One scenario says the end of Sept. attempt to kill JFK was to happen in GF but was cancelled 5 days before his GF speech so the plotters cont. to stalk him observing security patterns in GF & in Duluth the day before.

What keeps conspiracy fans running, and I am one of them, is the fact there are so many who wanted to see JFK’s demise: the Cubans, the Mafia, maybe rogue elements of the government, etc. LBJ formed the Warren Commission with its a priori conclusion, not to discover anything, but to convince the country that the Russians didn’t do it. People like Posner with his pop psychology nonsense and others who finger Oswald exclusively, conveniently ignore all the evidence that militates against him.

I agree. A new movie called “Legacy of Secrecy” is coming out in 013 on the 50th anniversary saying the mafia operation of New Orleans godfather Carlos Marchello masterminded the assassination. It is being produced by Titanic star ? & his father.

I have to admit, spearman, that there was a time I got so obsessed with it that I had to walk away. It took way too much of my time. There are two great books on the subject which influenced me a lot: “Best Evidence” by David Lipton and a privately published study by Bob Harris called “Who Shot JFK?” Both go far beyond Oswald and the single bullet theory. For example, how did Alan Dulles, whom JFK fired as head of the CIA, end up on the Warren Commission?

A new 5 volume work by Doug Horne, a member of the Assassination records Review Board (ARRB), modifies Lifton’s “Best Evidence” book with new material released by the Review Board that shows the alteration of JFK’s wounds happened @ Bethesda in DC & not on the way to DC or @ some location in DC other than Bethesda as Lifton maintains.

What matters is that the public understands that a turn to Fascism was what the four 60s assassinations brought about. The “military industrial congressional complex” that Ike warned about acted to neutralize JFK’s attempt to dismantle it. They succeeded so today, 49 yrs. later, we have an American Fascist empire run by a corporate state (fascism) making war worldwide in the name of American citizens that have been sold a “bill of goods”.

I remember those tense days. My father worked at the Minneapolis airport at the time. He came home from work and told me “John, we are close to going to war. They have armed the aircraft at the Naval Reserve portion of the airfield and they are surrounded with armed guards.” He understood what this meant as he had been a bomber pilot in WWII in the RCAF.
We all watched the news during the next week and watched it all unfold. Even though I was in Jr. High I could understand what was going on thanks to my Dad. It was pretty facinating and very high drama. I’m glad it came out in a peaceful way.
