Win or lose, the Jamestown High School football team is looking to set the tone for the future in the final two weeks of the season.
The Blue Jays (1-3 West Region, 1-6 overall) visit Williston at 7 tonight in their final regular-season road game of the season.

Hopefully coach Fletcher has a bit more to the playbook this game. Maybe a screen pass,a flea flicker,or maybe a reverse. Time to start keeping opposing defenses honest instead of running the same 8 plays every game.

Well I must say congrats to the BlueJays on the win lastnight. And also congrats on the win by the freshman over Valley City lastnight. I do have a few concerns as I have heard throughout the day. It has to do with our freshman team. We have really good numbers with those boys and talent as I have watched a few home games. But as I have noticed we play the same kids on both sides of the ball. Isnt this level suppose to be mind set on development? I have heard that lastnight was the same way. Same kids playing both sides of the ball. Hey Jamestown………..you wonder why we dont have the numbers in our sports? This is why. If you play the same 11 kids subbing in 2 kids here and there you have how many more that look at each other and ask why am I here. Develop these kids. We need them all at our varsity level. I have talked with a few parents that said their kids are not playing next year for that reason. Who is to say that if you put little Johnny in and worked with him he isnt going to pick up his performance or his blocking or his running skills? We need little Johnny !!!!! We have parents to sit in the stands and cheer and under classmen. We dont need former players. Why would you do this Jamestown coaches??????? Can any one of you answer this question? Shame on you for denying these kids the time to participate in a game they feel they can contribute to.I dont think these freshman are playing for a state tournament so play them all. I dont know what the fee is, $50 or $75 ?? But I dont recall that any one kid would pay more to play then the next. Coaches this is the age we develop these kids. We need each of these kids to beat the Bismarcks, Fargos, Minots, Dickinsons, you want me to go on? What were the total points when we played both Bismarcks? Im sure there is a few of us that can guess that . It isnt good. Needless to say I am very disgusted. We maybe should have started from scratch with new coaching when Cahill left. I am still going to cheer on the bluejays but PLEASE jamestown…….change your attitude. Your not in the NFL !!!!!

I have heard through the grapevine that Fletcher wants certain players to play both ways on the freshman team. I think it stinks. 50 kids were on the 8th grade team last year. This year it’s down to 28. Next year it could be down to 20 and I can’t blame some of these kids for not coming back. You need depth in football and the way things are being run there will be none.
