“…how much people from outside of Duluth love this place,” Duluth takes care of its tourists just not its citizens. Look at how many non-profits it takes to keep this city afloat, even the Chamber.

Go for it Duluth. But in the near future can you bring in something other than minimum wage type service industry jobs.

I’m sorry but it’s time for new leadership at the COC. They benefit from constant turnover in membership and the public’s short-term memory. How many times over the past 10-15 yrs has there been an initiative, study, symposium, etc. about how Duluth can become the Midwest’s Portland, Seattle, or some other hip town we are not?

… and attractions and while attaining coolness and hipness is a worthy goal, I think working to defend business interests and build the tax base w/ family-supporting wage jobs is kinda important too. Cool, hip people like that. they like to do something after hitting the cool coffee shop in the a.m. and before hitting the hip clubs at night.

Don’t follow RT’s recipe, whatever it might be. One need only look at his city to see why Duluth is a special oasis away from the muggings, murders, and mayhem. I’ve lived in both cities……I prefer Duluth!
