Good call. What good is it having a Department of Natural Resources if you can’t let them do their job? They are the leading edge of conservation, they are in charge of the wise use of our natural resources.

The DNR expects the majority of wolves will be taken during the trapping portion of their wolf control plan. And while the law requires foot traps and snares are checked daily, the DNR cannot enforce this requirement with their limited resources.

Not 100, just 40. If 200 are taken this would be a lot compared to other states that have had hunts. So 200 out of 6000 wolves is a very small #. These are not dumb animals.

For anyone that spends quite a bit of time in the woods of MN, there are ALOT more than 3000 wolves in Minnesota. I am thankful that the DNR is stepping up to the plate on this wolf hunt, but to say that there are 3000 wolves is not true in my mind nor alot of people I have spoke to.
It will be a hard hunt indeed to hit that quota, but we HAVE to start somewhere!

The DNR came out at least 5 years ago and stated their estimate was 3000 wolves in MN. Well guess what, they have no predators (other than man), so only starvation or disease would stop their growth in numbers. It has not stagnated in the last 5 years, they breed. Montana had a hunt in 2011, thousands of licenses issued, 131 wolves harvested.
Adequate time, they know it has been coming for years, yes years. How much time do they need?

Why the need for trapping? It is vicious and inhumane.
