   At the risk of sounding like a crabby old lady: Mr. Hummel, what a waste of newspaper space. First: you begin with a gratuitous slam at muslims, then you segue off into a self-debate on bacon. Your life must be quite event-free, for this to be your idea of “journalism”. I wonder if you would write such an article using wild rice and Native Americans, or cotton and black people? Perhaps, you should look into your heart, and figure out why you feel the need to denigrate another culture.

  In defense of Mr. Hummel, this is the editorial page. Also, Muslims’ denigrate themselves when they do horrendous things in the name of god. Bacon, love my bacon. I must admit I checked out that article when it first appeared. First gasoline, then bacon – oh noes.
