I certainly hope the common council or planning commission doesn’t go against the 2009 comprehensive plan that many people spent long long hours (1,000+ hours) developing and rezone this form public use to commercial.
it would be a major deviation from their comprehensive land use plan. It would be nice if they were consistent and apply the same rationale for not rezoning one property and not rezone this property. Just looking for some consistency here.
“A great deal of time, effort, and expertise went into the development of the Hudson 2009 Comprehensive Plan. However, without a commitment to the major components of that plan, it ceases to be a plan at all”,

A few reasonable questions to ask would be:
Is this a ‘major component’ of the plan?
Does any public entity want it?
Would it be a net negative or a net positive to the city?

First off, the information center was not part of the comprehensive plan because it was state-owned and required to be zoned public. It wasn’t until the state sold the property to a private party that it was even eligible to be rezoned to anything else. Since it is now privately owned and in the city’s commercial district, it is practically required to be zoned commercial. Read the law and you’ll understand the situation.
