If I may comment on this story, and a couple errors found in it.
1:) This was not the fourth Annual Sunnybrook Showdown. This was actually the first. There has been previous food shelf tournaments, however they ran under the name, “Dicn’ to End Hunger” This I know as I am the creator of these tournaments. This can be verified via our Facebook page, plus the sponsorship certificate for the first year, hangin up at Main Street Sports (which has sponsored these tournaments in the pass as stated) So yes there has been 4 food shelf tournaments, but only one exclusivly ran by the league (this years) the previous years have been ran by me and my ministry. Unfortunately we decided to no longer sponsor the program, do to the way we “felt” the league was handlng the tournament administration (not staying to original way it was ran, including funds, advertisment, sponsorship) , and the fact that last year we were never mentioned, and the league took credit.
2.) The league was just created last year, so in all reality this could not be their fourth tournament.
3.) They played a round of 36, the course has not been expanded as stated in the article. The course is 9 holes, and has been that way for years. However the park board has approved an upgrade to 18 holes, and the league is in the process of raising founds for this upgrade.
Otherwise we fully support the league and congratulate them on raising these funds for a well needed organization. However we felt the needed to explain the whole story as it should be, and correct the misconceptions that may arise.
