Poor guy comes to Duluth on vacation and we fine him $500. Really? Good old DNR. I know zebra mussels are a serious problem…they should cut this dude some slack.

Absolutely. This guy wasn’t local. He didn’t know any better and he wasn’t intentionally breaking the law. Take the cart, tell him what he was doing is illegal and send him on his way with a warning.

People….stories on Zebra Mussels have been in Forum newspapers in ND since this became a problem. He may have infested your favorite waterway or mine.

It doesn’t mean he’s read them. If this isn’t a big problem in ND, I highly doubt the topic is front page news. i LIVE HERE and I only KIND OF know about zebra mussels.
At the end of the day, this guy didn’t harm anyone and no one’s favorite watering hole was infected. I don’t see why such a huge monitary fine was necessary.
