Wisconsin officials are thinking about making motorists pay fees according to how many miles they drive. The fees would be in addition to the gas taxes and vehicle registration fees that drivers already pay.

The resultant legislature bill would be called the “Rural Destruction Act”. Not only will our tax money continue to go to subsidising buses in Milwaukee/Madison, now we will have to pay extra to go to work. Rural land values will decrease because of the cost to commute to larger towns for jobs/supplies.

Keep in mind that your tax dollars (federal) already go to subsidizing buses in Madison and Milwaukee…and NYC, San Fran, Chicago and Cedar Rapids, etc.
Local transit systems only pay about 10-15% of the cost of new buses, the Feds (you) pay the rest. The stimulus funds paid heavily for new buses across the country in cities like NYC all the way down to new buses for cities like Topeka, KS.
