This would be such an important change for our area. Sweiney has been sucking off of the County teat for waaay too long. Even my AFSCME brothers and sisters agree- we really need some good representation in our area and Stauber will be a great addition, It’s time for Sweiney to retire gracefully.

Don, I like Reagan’s philosophy were if you can agree 70 to 80 percent of the time, you can work on the other 20 to 30 percent.
Sweeney is a bought and paid for AFSCME slug who I don’t agree with 10 percent of the time. Sweeney voted against Polymet, is more concerned about marriage, and calling the sheriff at 3:00am to get her daughter Shannon out of jail for a DUI and refusal to test, and more self-serving spending county money on herself than jobs and higher than heck property taxes.
Don, I have to disagree with you this one time with a thumbs down, as I have skin in the game and Sweeney has to go!

Sorry Shannon that you have to defend your Mom, but alas, you chose to chime in. Peg has not been a good commissioner. Good commissioners look out for all of their consituents. She doesn’t. I haven’t seen her at one of our township meetings. EVER. I have relatives in Normanna. She hasn’t done anything to help put the JD Bridge contruction on the fast track. Those people won’t have access to their road until 2014. She sure chimed in about gay marriage though, which has NOTHING to do with our roads, bridges, jobs, or TAXES. She’s voted against our Union brothers who work in the mines on the range. Hard working Union folks like me are sick and tired of elected officials taking advantage of their position. She makes a lot of money to be a commissioner. I guarantee she doesn’t put in a full 40 like eveyone else. She’s abrasive and hard to talk to. Need I go on? Again, sorry that you have to hear these things about your Mom, but I’m not the one leeching the tax money from our county. Good riddence. She can go back to babysitting your kids full time.

Shannyrides, you’ve got to be kidding. The 3am phone call went through the county offices like wildfire! Ross won’t admit it for obvious reasons but many of us in the county are very aware of what occurred, many of us discussed it for days.
If you’re drunk and locked up, how do you know if your mother made the call at 3am? Get real, you were locked up. You wouldn’t have been let out of jail that soon without special favor because of your refusal to test. You would have had to go before judge like everyone else that refuses to blow, except for who you know.
The facts are many of us that work with your mom know it’s time for her to go gracefully, but oh nooooo, she cares about staying in one more term for her health insurance than supporting my brothers and sisters. We all know the Power House Primo Donna Peg wants more and more for herself and has completely forgotten about the things that really matter to the rest of us.
Good riddance it’s NOT all about Peg!

Let’s face it, Shanny–this area is the Personal Playhouse of the DFL entitled, and I think your arrest (or lack thereof) proves that. If you get arrested and refuse to blow, you usually are forced to take the blood test, even if they have to strap you down to do it. If that wasn’t the case, nobody would agree to the breathalyzer. Right?
I for one am sick of all the corruption. Covering up for groping a boy on Thompson hill (Gauthier). Allowing a guy who abandoned his daughter to be added to the ballot while refusing Jay Fosle. And your case. We could go on and on, but few would disagree that there is equal treatment under the law if you are one of the DFL “gifted”.
Is all this an issue? Of course it is. We have members of the DFL voting constantly in ways that damage our area and make it a no-man’s land of any business, but instead one of so-called “non-profits”, and the entitlement doesn’t end there…it extends to the people who pull the strings.

Oh Claire honey and Political Plight, I am not Pete Stauber or Claire Kirch. In fact I have never met either of them, nor have I or anyone I know done a background search on Claire (totally preposterous statement).
The problem with the radical left extremists is they hate the facts and truth that we post everyday via established media sources. Now and then we receive tips that must be from proven credible citizen sources backed up by facts, evidence, and sources of their information. The radical left in true Saul Alinsky (Claire) fashion does whatever they can to diminish the truth.
That being said, Claire you have really motivated us now and tomorrow’s featured story will be much in thanks to your firing up one of our regular contributors. It will specifically feature self-serving county commissioners, one of them being Peg Sweeney.
Shanny dear, I understand your loyalty to your mom, but the facts are the facts. I do not mean to hurt you or your mother, but different leadership is badly needed at the county because of Peg’s loyalties to scrupulous parties and past decisions including the 3 am phone call.

Personally, I have to wonder if Claire isn’t running the Dflduluth site herself, since her name is often mentioned and it gives her the chance to play the victim. I just went to the site now and read an article where Claire “fave” Brandon Clokey (who ran against Liberal Tom Huntley) was protesting Congressman Cravaack’s office with the virtually Communist “TakeAction MN”. It appears that Huntley wasn’t quite Leftist enough for Claire, but if that is the case isn’t the USA too right wing? I suggest she and her hb book the next flight to Venezuela.
I mean seriously, who would defend Gauthier (Child sexual abuse), Simonson (Child abandonment), and support Clokey (TakeAction MN)? You have to be pretty far out there to do so.
I do encourage her to take to the media to let her opinion be known, there couldn’t be a better reason to elect Pete Stauber.

Happiest day for me came when the district was redrawn and Pig Sweeney left Western Duluth. Never in all the years she was a commissioner did she stop in out here. Guess she loved her hometown Proctor more.. Already have had more conversation with Mr Dahlberg in a year than her in the prior seven..

I’m not saying Sweeney is better at all, as I stated I know nothing about this race. For all intensive purposes a sourkraut sandwich is better than anybody that has exposed or hidden liberal ideals. All I’m saying is if you support and vote for Stauber, which he seems to be the right choice right now, then be prepared to vote a “better” guy the next time around because I know Stauber has some hidden agenda or some hidden animosities which is unacceptible for someone who wants to represent others. Why would any elected official representing the best interests of his constituents vote down any businessman’s aspirations without just cause unless there is a hidden agenda??

Stauber is a lot like Cravaack and Duffy, in that he is just a guy right now that has a chance to break the DFL log jam and get potentially new ideas in there. And just like Cravaack and Duffy, if he gets in, he needs to be accountable and possibly defend himself in the next election cycle if something new or better steps forward.

I’ve met Pete, and I wonder if you could find a “better” guy. He is exactly who he says he is, a common man who believes the area needs to be served better. He holds no “secret” agenda that I know of. This cannot be said of the DFL candidates up for reelection, spending their time voting on things that have nothing to do with them such as same sex marriage, or voting to destroy the industrial (job) base of the region (mining, lumber) while saying they support it.
