Packers stunned in Seattle on final play
September 24, 2012 at 7:08 pm in Duluth News Tribune
In a bizarre ending that capped a brutal weekend for replacement officials, the Seattle Seahawks somehow beat the Green Bay Packers 14-12 on Monday night in a game that’s certain to re-ignite frustrations over the locked-out refs. Continue Reading

Yeesh….as much as I would like to jab the GB fans this just isn’t right. I love the game and to see this happen makes me ill.

As the benefactors of so many calls and non calls over the years, I have no sympathy for the packers. Besides, the vikes got jobbed too, they just played well enough to overcome that. The packers did not.

They should have given the Puckers another down and a couple extra timeouts like they did for SF.
But I dont really understand all this hubbub about the refs. They aren’t NFL refs, so why do people keep expecting them to act like NFL refs? They are just out of their league.

This was not a Replacement Referee error but a review error made by those in the Review Booth that are not replacement workers. How can this considered a Replacement Ref error if it was reviewed by contracted employees and decided on by them only? The Replacement Refs only relay what is told to them by the Review Booth.

Correct, but to a point.
If the replacement refs had called it an INT first, it would have remained an INT after review. That and they missed the blatant Pass Interference on Tate where he pushed a defender to the ground before jumping.
But, reviewing the catch it is obvious still that it is an INT. I guess the replay officials did not see enough in their views to overturn the ruling.

If the Packers had played better they would not have been in this position in the first place! Get over it! No sympathy for the Packers….

That is what the Packers fans told me when I complained about the Shiancoe catch that was ruled incomplete and the subsequent TD catch by GB that was out of bounds.
“Your team just needs to play better so it doesn’t come down to a blown call”.

Any time someone loses, they blame it on the replacement refs. Guess what..If the replacement refs are so universally bad, all teams are on an even playing field when it comes to officiating. Deal with it–we’re all in the same boat.

Yes they are “replacements” but what are their qualifications? I can’t believe they were just hired off of the street, I would have to believe they have expeirance in college or arena or canadian football their call are so bad if anyone made the same mistakes in their jobs they would be fired-why haven’t they been canned?

Sounds like a compelling argument for performance pay. I wonder how much Seattle had to pay for the win? This is what you get when you make sausage and paper instead of software and computers.

They are D II and D III college refs. The rules of the game are a little different and quite a bit slower, but it is the same game. The fact is there are some extra axes in the grind here; certain groups inside the NFL have been pushing for years to make refs full time employees of the league as opposed to 16 week part time guys. The fact is that human error is part of the game, but it’s being exaggerated in this case due to the hidden agenda of those parties hoping to get full time refs once the regulars returned. After all…did Drew Pearson shove off? Was the ref right or wrong? Depends on who you ask.
BTW, he DID push off!

The game is slower, but so are the refs.

Well I guess if the lockout drags out the replacement refs will have more experience next year.

So Gov. Walker tweets about the officating because his beloved Packers lost! If the Vikings do well and the Packers don’t go to the Superbowl, the writing is already on the wall: “It’s because of the replacement refs!” Mark my words.

The NFL is now like watching professional wrestling. No integrity at all.

At least in wrestling they call it “sports entertainment” and everyone knows that it is predetermend in the NFL they pretended that it was “:real” but even before there were a lot of games decided by the zebras now the replacements aren’t as good at covering up

Conspiracy much?
Yes, the NFL does try to create stories and drama, but to claim they are fixing games is pretty delusional.

The whole game has become a scam . The players go along with it because they’re getting a gazillion buck to do so. It’s no longer about the game so much as it’s about the business. What’s good for the game seems more and more to be anathema to what’s good for the business. The fans get screwed while the players, owners, and networks get rich.

I think the players are concerned about the integrity of the game. I have read several of their comments. They aren’t just alarmed by bad calls against their own teams. Last nights call had several NFL players up in arms as well as NBA players. I’m a fan of the NFL not just one certain team. I watch any game that is on not just Vikings games.

Of course.
They want to win as much as the next guy, despite how much money they are making. Wins are so much less satisfying when you win on a technicality.
My comment was more to point out how silly it was to say that the games were fixed.

In a way it is a scam. When you cheapen the game you should lower the price of the ticket and ad revenue. But they didn’t.

I was by Executive Order..! BHO ordered Green Bay to share some of their victories with Seattle.. The refs had no choice.
