Methadone is a terrible drug…I know, I was prescribed this pain medication and it nearly killed me. I became seriously thin and felt terrible. I was taking a low dose; however, after some time I felt like I could not take a deep breathe and I believe this medication was building up in my system. I then decided to go “cold turkey” off this terrible stuff and it was the most horrible withdrawal imaginable for several weeks. It took a good year before I felt normal again. I would not suggest anyone take this medication as it is so addicting. Anyone trying to get off one drug and is then prescribed this drug is trading one addictive substance for another. The best thing is to go through the withdrawal and get off all substances.
