Funding the comparably paltry $100,000 of city funding to a lack of streets funding is silly. Assisting COGGS in this venture makes good business sense, and if successful will pay us back in spades via increased tourism and tax revenue. Biking tourism brings good people who want to drink our good beer, ride our amazing trail system and spread the word to their friends.
Having a world class trail system will actively help retain a healthy population and jump start numerous biking related businesses. The major funding of this project is not from the city, but rather from the Legacy Grant program. This entire trail system will cost around two million dollars. A single road reconstruction could potentially cost significantly more and have far less of an economic impact.

How about if the users pay for it. And yes, I would be one of the users.

Thank you for your offer. User fees (taxes paid by users) are quite common in other areas of Duluth..

Instead of luring in a business or two, the administration is focused on this?!?
The city CANNOT build a fundamental base on retail, and tourism, especially now that gas if 4 bucks a gallon. Someone needs to get Donny off his Duluthtopia, and bring him back to reality.

They are also trying to build an empire based on parking. The new transit center ramp and the ramp for the new Maurices building. Then they announce that they have no money for streets. All this in the same week. A coincidence??
