Neighbor to neighbor

In the days leading up to the November elections, it appears that we are going to be treated to a steady stream of mud-slinging on television and social media. Just when I think I’ve heard the nastiest, most ignorant remark, someone says something that leads me to believe they need a time out and a nap. Continue Reading

This article is well written. However, here is another angle. Small town politics are horrible. There are many, many people in this town that have said they are against certain candidates but do not dare say that publicly for fear of retaliation. And this is so very true. My family and I are experiencing it right now in this current campaign. Seems you are not allowed to be friends with any candidate because the opposing candidate automatically assumes you will vote for your friend. Hello, maybe I am friends with both candidates. No one knows what I do when I enter the voting booth and no one should know. I have not made it a habit to endorse any candidate with a yard sign on my lawn or for that matter even volunteer in a campaign. Reason again being retaliation. It sickens me to see “the good ole boy” in power. Many people in this community want things to change but the change never seems to go in the right direction. Many of the changes are self serving to those that hold a political office. Not really what the general public wants. How about bringing in business that benefits the whole community not just those that are alcohol drinkers. How about healthy competition. Bring in other shopping venues and restaurants. Stop making rules only to break them to suit your need for votes. Stop making policies, ordinances, etc., and then don’t follow through with them. Clean up the yards that have been neglected and full of junk. Fix the roads in desperate need of repair. Take care of the deplorable conditions at the camp ground. Tear down the old buildings that can’t be leased and make room for the new growth you could experience. That is what each politician in this town should be working for. Not working on how to retaliate on citizens because they feel they are not supported by them or don’t like them because they stand up for themselves. Something we have to do in this town otherwise we WILL be retaliated against.
