So basically in an election year, we are playing cards with the fund balance in the hope that Walmart really does bring in more tax dollars to shore up the deficit in the future.

WalMart becomes a huge taxable property versus what that property is at now. That is a fact. They already know, based on the size of the building, etc., what the taxable rate will be – so there isn’t anything about hoping they will bring in tax revenue. On top of that, it keeps more shoppers in CG, which creates more revenue..

Well I have been trying to reply to this for the past few days but this site would not display my messages, let’s see if this one goes thru…………….. basically I am basing my comment on the historical fact that Home Depot was supposed to be a big boon to Cottage Grove also, and what are we left with? Another empty eyesore in Cottage Grove.
