At ground zero, can there be a politics-free 9/11?

The Sept. 11 anniversary ceremony at ground zero has been stripped of politicians this year. For the first time, elected officials won’t speak Tuesday at an occasion that has allowed them a solemn turn in the spotlight. The change was made in the name of sidelining politics, but some have rapped it as a political move in itself. Continue Reading

This morning on MSNBC the author of a new book about 9/11 appeared in an interview. His research was also an oped piece this morning in the NYT. His book goes into great detail about how the CIA couldn’t get the Bush Admin. to listen in July to their intell about the coming attack. CIA officials were discussing group transfers because they didn’t want to be blamed for not preventing the coming attacks. Amazing that citizens still believe the official story!

Your going to hear a lot more about this in the next few days. They bascially were so eager to discount everything that the Clinton adminstration handed them, that they ignored a series, not just one, but a series of intelligence briefings that should have been taken seriously. It was Condoleeza Rice that was in charge of most of this and there was a power struggle between her and Cheney. He didn’t want her to have any influence on Bush. So he sidelined her as best he could and the consequences were terrible for the country. Even at that time, they were already focused on Iraq, trying to get Saddam out so they could set up oil contracts. The CIA was going crazy trying to get them to pay attention. It seems like just about everything that went bad under Bush had the fingerprints of Dick Cheney all over it.

Of course nothing will be said about the threee seperate opportunities Clinton had to be handed Bin Laden on a silver platter that he was too cowardly to accept.
