A “no” vote does not mean marriage “marriage could be just about anything anyone understands it to be.” Gay marriage still would be illegal and unrecognized in Minnesota. It simply means that legal standing would not be wedged into the state constitution.

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall be one flesh.” …Seems to me this statement is describing the coming together of a man and woman ro procreate, resulting in a child of “one flesh” between them. Couldn’t be more accurate, based on biologocal understanding of today. The biblical statement says nothing about “legal marriage”, which happens to be an institution of society, not an exclusive underpinning of any particular religion. Besides the clear difference in tone between the Old and New Testaments, I would say, Pastor, a better guide for you to follow would be, “Whatsoever you do unto the least of my brethren, you do also unto me”. Now, that is a lot clearer than the other “truths” you claim, in your column, to have the right to “choose” to believe.

Sorry, but I really can’t take seriously any advice from one who supports the position that the earth is only 6000 years old. The bible was written by men and is plump full of errors and inconsistencies.
