The majority of growth in Hudson comes from the eastern metro and those are the numbers we should be comparing our schools to. Stillwater had 84% of students taking the test with an average of 24.1; and South Washington County boasted 71% taking the test with an average of 23.4. We should be competitive with those if we want growth from the eastern metro. An exemplary district in MN to model would be Rochester, achieving 24.5 and they are going digital. Let’s encourage more to take the test since only 65.4% of those eligible are doing so.

I agree with you Phil – this report is like saying, “look at me, I’m taller than the average kid in Wisconsin.” Big deal! If you’re going to boast, then compare your scores with the really good performing school districts in Wisconsin, otherwise you are no different than someone who runs Grandma’s marathon and happens to cross the finish line before everyone else goes home.
If you want to compare Hudson’s scores against someone else, then why not use Elmbrook? They’ve got 84.5% of their 650 students taking the ACT tests with a composite score of 25.4 Or Arrowhead having 83.2% of 564 students with a composite score of 25.0 and Whitefish Bay had 83% of their 211 students scoring 25.8.
Hudson comes in ranked 43rd of all Wisconsin districts, so this story is a yawner and should be placed in the self-gratification section of life.
