US home prices jump nationwide in July by the most in 6 years, latest sign of recovery
September 4, 2012 at 3:30 am in West Central Tribune
U.S. home prices jumped 3.8 percent in the 12 months ending in July, according to a private real estate data provider. The year-over-year increase was the biggest in six years, further evidence that the housing market is steadily recovering. Continue Reading

Just Googled CoreLogic and looks like it’s a publically traded company–value of their stock is significantly higher than 10 years ago and about the same or a little below what it was 5 years ago–has been climbing for the past 12 months. Just from their website, I don’t see how they could be considered a government agency so when the article begins “according to a private real estate data provider”, I’d say CoreLogic would fit that description. Not sure what you read in the article that would’ve lead you to believe this data came directly from a government agency or from the White House.
From people I know who follow real estate fluctuations, the market is slowly coming up even in some of the hardest hit areas. Nobody says it’s anywhere near what it was and probably will never get that high again but if values are no longer dropping, that’s a very good thing.

I know Obama didn’t build that, and we found out he couldn’t fly! The more we listen to the GOP the more confusing and misinformed they sound!

slap a coat of paint in a room, you increase your home’s value by $10,000. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it couldn’t be sustained and that it would crash, my only surprise is that it took as long as it did to crash! I had my bets on 2006! If you sold your home during this time and made great money, good for you, if you bought a home and paid too much … well that sucks! Now let’s hope that we remember history and don’t repeat our mistakes!

bobk there is a reason for this, the Republicans don’t want to help familes and continue to make the statement people need to stand on their own two feet. The problem with standing on your own two feet is Republicans keep cutting our boot straps. It takes both parties to fix the problems so tell us honestly bob what did Republicans do the past 2yrs since taking 80 congressional seats? I’ll tell you what they did, nothing, squat, not even a jobs bill. The contradictions and flip flopping have again been the center stage of the Republican party, and its their choice of candidates that have hurt them the most…

Bob all the Republicans were against the jobs bill, so a few Dems voting against Obama didn’t really matter. Same goes for the trillion dollar bailout Bush and Republicans hurried over the weekend in 2008, to get passed, there were some Dems as well that voted but the majority were Republicans. The problem is the Republicans have not supported the president since day one. The contradictions are plenty. they can vote billions into the wars, and private war companies, but to invest in America and its infrastructure that is a deficit! Republicans can give big tax breaks to businesses and claim this will provide jobs, then tell me why when Bush left, unemployment was at an all time high? Jobs is always the last to recover after a recession, especially the one Bush left us with. Romney talks about jobs, jobs, jobs, but how many did he ever create? The man outsourced jobs, cut pensions, laid people off and took huge fees for Bain when he was a CEO for them. Romney took millions in fees from failing companies, and his record for job growth when he was gov was not very good either. Both Romney and Ryan are flip floppers, and both have been caught at it! Bob no matter how you try to slice it, Romney and Ryan are no good for this country, and the GOP seems to come up short whenever they nominate a candidate, the reason, they seem to want to follow the same failed policies of former president Bush! We want to go forward not backwards, which is where these two Republicans will take us once again if they were to get elected!
Hot debate. What do you think?

If Romney is elected and the dems retain the senate … things will be as they have been since 2010, only it will be the dems who stall things this time around … if one party has all three (house, senate and presidency) then we are all in a world of hurt because there will be so much power in the hands of one party and we will have a repeat of years past. I am a firm believer that no one party can have control of government, that is too much power and things just go down hill for the American people, with that said however, this country (and I’ll say it again) needs to put the social issues completely aside … FOR GOOD … and do the work of the American people! I realize for many people social issues (gay marriage and abortion are the main two) are what guide them in an election, but that is just silly! I laugh as each sides indicates smaller government and then both propose larger government … and the facts are your not going to change it, both sides need a larger government and so do the American people. It just depends on your perspective! The republicans claim smaller government and then want to control your bedroom … that is larger government! Honestly for this election, the people once again get to chose between the devil they know and the devil they don’t … with President Bush Sr. they decided for the devil they didn’t know, same with President Carter … elections with an incumbent are relatively predictable in modern times (Reagan, Clinton, Bush 2) … BUT the American people expect instant results, hence the Republicans massive swings in 2010 … it will truly be interesting to see who the American people ‘blame’ this time around … because of course, it is never our own fault for buying a home we couldn’t afford in the first place, not putting money in savings, refinancing our homes over and over again to take vacations, having massive credit card debts, buying expensive cars … and the list goes on and on … whether it is President Obama who is reelected or if Mr. Romney becomes president … things will not change until Congress can decide that working together for the common good is something they want to do … the chances of that happening are slim to none .. and we, the American people, will continue to get the short end of the stick!

The housing market collapse stopped construction, and many small businesses further causing more unemployment, and damage to the economy! The housing market has been slow in recovering, and is it any wonder with many homes underwater, and whole neighborhoods wiped out during the foreclosure epidemic in 2007, and 2008! Again some Republicans feel Obama should wave that magic wand. What hurt the housing market was greed and predatory lending. After Bush eliminated some regulations in 2003, after his speech on national TV, predatory lending flourished. Some mortgage companies who refinanced homeowners actually set them up to lose their homes. Now Bush was merely giving many Americans a chance to live the American dream, and I don’t believe he ever thought the housing market whould suffer its worst collapse since the Great Depresssion. The predatory lenders inflated incomes, and property values to get homeowners refinanced while promising homeowners they could refinance with banks at lower interest in 2yrs as long as they made payments on time. These companies took large fees and basically lied to many homeowners desperate after losing their jobs, had loss of income, or were having medical issues. When banks turned these homeowners down, and balloon payments or higher mortgage payments were due, many homeowners realized they were in trouble. Millions of homeowners facing foreclosure did not qualify for any programs, and Bush did not throw any life lines because he listened to bankers and financial advisors who gave him bad advice. These homeowners simply left their keys on the counters and just walked away! Meanwhile some Republicans and Dems were given juicy refinancing loans from mortgage company Country Wide whose CEO Angelo, was in charge, and he had a list nicknamed Angelo’s list. This was a list of influencial politicans who would ensure Angelo and Country Wide they could operate their predatory mortgage company without any interference or regualtions. In Detroit for example whole neighborhoods were wiped out with foreclosures and in return these homes were broken into and stripped of copper, cabinets, and other items. Now these homes are being bulldozed and demolished because the city can’t patrole them, this was similar in other major urban cities. Like was stated before you are not going to fix 8yrs of abuse in 4yrs.
