Over the next six years, three Red River bridges in the northern reaches of the valley including two in Grand Forks-East Grand Forks will receive improvements. Continue Reading

Talking about the bridge in Minneapolis….A couple weeks ago I was on Highway 52 in St. Paul that you basically have to take from I494 to downtown to catch I35E because big trucks are banned from 494 to downtown on I35E….Apparently some wealthy individuals got that passed so they souldn’t have all that noisy semi traffic……We pay a lot of money for roads, but they can keep us from using them…Sweet…
Anyway they’re working on another bridge by the river and during rush hour and down to two lanes it was slow and go……I don’t live there, but even I couldn’t stop thinking about that being the exact conditions that was going on when the other bridge collapsed……If I drove a little four wheel car….I think I’d make plans to go a different way during rush traffic…

My brother lived down there during that time. It was a scary ordeal. I agree Tundra, I think I would do the same.

“The Kennedy Bridge also is a candidate for improvements that would encourage additional pedestrian and bicycle traffic.”
It’d be interesting to see the details of what they’re proposing to do.
First Guess: It will involve screwing up the vehicular traffic lanes.

What happened to the two NEW bridges we were scheduled to get? Historical significance or a fancy excuse? I swear to God I read about this in the Herald and than on the MNDOT website. We were in line for new bridges not rehabs.

The only “new” bridge proposal I’m aware of would provide a crossing on “the Merrifield road”. The bridge just south–often called “the Thompson bridge” is fairly new.
Perhaps those are the two you’re thinking of?
