“At Altru, no midwives are credentialed to deliver babies in the hospital, he said, because the need for these services is being met by obstetricians on staff.”
I was extremely disappointed when researching my birthing options in Grand Forks that Altru does not have a midwife on staff. My sisters and various close friends in other towns use midwives who work out of the local hospital, providing the personal care and attention of a midwife while being in the security of the hospital in case something does go wrong. Obstetricians do NOT provide the same roll as a midwife.
