What would you do if you found an eviction order posted to your front door? What if you had no family to turn to, and other apartments were out of your price range? Would you move into a shelter? Brave the winter in a tent? Catch the next bus out of town?

With people losing jobs, they lose thier houses. Next HUD buys the house and recruits a low income family to move here. Maxium rent is charged and the tax payer picks up the tab. Other landlords then charge maxium rent as they can. So for $600-$700, you too can live in one of Duluth’s premire Ghetto’s. Now, just land that minium wage paying job and apply for food stamps! Poverty as an Industry!!!!!

Right on, Levi. In addition to pets: Cell phones, cable/satillite TV, cigarettes, alcohol, Internet access and numerous other luxuries are also on the long list of things that those on public assistance should not purchase.

Maybe one or more of our multitude of “social service” agencies should offer free one-way bus tickets to any other city in the US.

WOW – Minnesota Nice at its finest!! I would guess all of you can live in Glass Houses because of your self rightousness!! This is a real issue that affects your community. Many of the homeless are your working poor, children (yes children), those with mental health issues, those with chemical dependency issues and those who have made mistakes. Look at members of your families, your friends and your neighbors. I would venture every one of you can see someone you know who, if it wasn’t for the Grace of God, would be homeless or at risk of being homeless. Why don’t we look for solutions?! After all, they are not going anywhere, even though it appears many of you would like nothing better!!
