A crowded field of candidates will compete for two Cottage Grove City Council seats in November. Continue Reading

Seems you can tell if a population is happy with the status quo of their local government whenever election time comes. Looks like there is a lot of people that want change in CG.

According to the survey, there are a lot more people happy with the way things are. Election time will tell for sure. My guess is most people won’t educate themselves on the facts and will base their decisions on what others tell them, whether or not the info is true.

my opinion is based on the number of challengers that want to run against incumbents, nothing to do with the survey of less than 1% of the population.

You’re comparing a few people up for election to a much larger amount of people in the survey, and that percentage indicates most people are happy with the city. My reason for rarely posting on these topics is that many people present their opinions as facts, and I’d rather debate with facts and come up with positive ideas for change instead.

For the past six election cycles, there have been at least five candidates (including imcumbants) on the ballot – except one, when there were four. This is nothing new Buzz. For one, it is personal because of street project that happens every year. Two who are just peeved about the city hall (I’m surprised there aren’t more of those, but it seems they are best at being armchair quarterbacks), and one, who is running because she wants to serve – not because of any dissatisfaction.

That may be true Chris. I’m unbiased as far as the political waters in CG as I live in SPP. I’m just calling it as I see it and from what I’ve observed in our elections and others. Thankfully you engage in in these conversations rather than just click “Like or Dislike”. I’m also starting to think nobody reads the Bulletin anymore. Their subscription numbers are dismal and there isn’t much traffic on area voices anymore either.

Maybe the chatter will pick up more in September and October…I agree though. When they changed the way to comment, the traffic went way down.

the voice is a peice of crap, every other time I try to reply it does not take my entry, but when I post it a second time it says I can’t have duplicates.
