EGF leaders again kill sewage project

The wastewater interconnect, a project that would have Grand Forks treating East Grand Forks’ sewage, was killed for a second time in the last 10 months on Tuesday. Continue Reading

I don’t know the numbers, but it seems that the economy of scale would scream to have the sewer sent to Grand Forks. If the feasibility is a toss-up, the increased revenue and benefit to Grand Forks should trump any large independent development. Too bad nobody cares about this.

Finally, someone who isn’t talking about slow traffic in the right lane!! Alvin, the sad thing is, people SHOULD care about this topic! The capacity to attract large ag-related businesses and other industrial businesses would definitely be a benefit to EGF and the greater GF area (utilizing the interconnect). This is why EGF does not grow. Some politicians keep dragging their feet. Just because the state is allowing the leaky lagoons to remain in place until 2016 doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be trying to come up with a solution now. We should be planning ahead! Either solution will cost $, but why not plan ahead for the one that will benefit the city and region the most?
