Flooding the classrooms

Local schools shift space to make room for more students
WORTHINGTON At Worthington High School on Monday, Principal Paul Karelis was considering creating a classroom on the stage of the cafeteria to accommodate an anticipated 25-student increase at the start of class today. Continue Reading

Please almighty one do not raise my taxes again to pay for the education of foreigners who work for a foreign owned company who’s product is largely shipped to foreign countries! Please let the foreign company and foreign workers and the foreign beneficiaries pay for their own needs. I ask this as I and my children and grand children are already taxed out!!! Please erect our leaders from their bent over position long enough to see the light, as they seem to be following some dark force…..

I’m sure there will be ample opportunities for you to voice your concerns – in person – at public hearings, once the school board and leaders have developed some proposals for moving forward.

I would think that a substantial swift surtax to match the extraordinary burden that they have placed on this community over the years would be in order.. Sell bonds, hospital money, whatever. I don’t think the taxpayer should have to pay for this unethical, undesirable, an illegally induced adversity.

and this is on topic how? This article is about our highschool. Magically you have spun it about JBS and “foreigners”. Taxes haven’t even be proposed yet as a solution. If you don’t want a school that can hold the amount of students in our town then say “i don’t want to pay for a school to hold all our students”.
We all live in this community. “Foreign” or not, and we all help pay for the things in this community. If you feel that you are exempt or don’t want to do that, then leave. There are lots of towns in all of the world that would love to have you.

My family and I have been here legally for generations. I’m sure I’ve been here longer then you or eastend, I’m positive I’ve been here longer then any of the illegally induced encroachers. So if anyone should leave it should be the trespassers And Their Supporters. I didn’t Magically spin anything, this whole school issue is the result of one thing and one thing only (illegal immigration) that’s illegal, illegal, agonist the law, I don’t wanta pay for it. Am I wrong here? I think not, if anyone needs to take a hike its you!!!

Don’t presume to know how long ANYBODY has been here! Are you psychic? Are you a native American?
And it’s not a question of “I was here first”, anyway. The school board is talking about the “here and now” and the “future”. You presume alot and therefore your logic and arguments don’t hold water.
The issue of accommodating the growing school population can’t be twisted into a whining rant about YOU or your family, and how much you already pay in taxes. I doubt you’re suffering too much. You can, after all, afford an Internet connection which, for many, is a luxury.
Every homeowner pays property taxes, and it’s no secret that many people of color own homes and, therefore, pay property taxes that support schools — and school expansion – and myriad other services. Everyone who has a job pays income taxes. Everyone who shops pays sales taxes. You make it sound like YOU and your family are put upon because you are somehow unfairly singled out. Again, it’s not about YOU.
I repeat – once the school board and leaders have developed a plan for growth for the district, they will share it. At that time, you – and every other taxpayer – will have the right to attend hearings and voice your opinion. At that point, you can voice your concerns. Just make sure your arguments are based on facts and not emotions, or they’ll laugh you out of the room. Proclaiming “woe is me” is not a basis for discussion.
Screaming loudly now is pointless. Calm down and wait for more information.

Some how being able to afford an Internet connection is not what I would use for an indicator of wealth, geesss. I can tell you that since the pig company started their importation of labor my ability, along with the biggest majority of the citizens to afford it has steadily declined. We are a much poorer town despite the few big box leaches you see. That’s one reason I don’t think you have been here long, if you knew the history (Experienced it) you might understand, maybe. Don’t tell me to settle down because I’ve seen this all before and the school board and leaders are exactly why I’m asking for help from a higher power. If it is not about me then who?

“If it is not about me then who?” I’d say this article is alot more about the KIDS and their futures than it is about Deano and his tax bills.
Just keep on believing that it’s all about you and your petty problems, Deano. I have trouble understanding why people who are SO filled with misery and anger feel like they have to spread it around. If you cannot stand where you live, seriously, take Minister Merc’s suggestion. Just don’t try to bring the rest of us down. We can’t empathize with you.
So, you’re praying to a “higher power” for tax relief? Let us know how that works out for you. And be sure to tell the School Board that they’re likely to be overruled by this almighty higher power.

That’s what I’m talking about, my kids and their futures. I’m neither miserable nor angry. I only see a wrong that I would like righted.

Worthington is following in the footsteps of LA. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/05/school-districts-bankruptcy.html
What do these places have in common? Non tax paying people going to schools, getting free lunch, and more $$$ spent on assistant teachers.

The non-citizen working with the average 4.5 kids files their Fed. Return and not only pays no tax but receives a low-income credit of $3000 to $4000 dollars. The illegal non-citizen just claims a bunch of dependents so little or nothing is with held from their check, knowing they will not file a return anyway. Most who pay no fed. pay no state tax either. There is some that own a home but the low-income credit more then reimburses them for any property tax paid. They might be stuck with the sales tax but the income credit (paid for by the real taxpayers) probably negates a lot of that. I’m not sure how they do it on the eastend, but this is a more realistic example…who in the room would look the fool?

“Just make sure your arguments are based on facts and not emotions, “—- Unlike the school board, who sold the city a brand new elementary school based on the false information given to us that West Elementary was “sinking”and would soon be a danger to house students. Are the ALC students any less deserving than others, that they woud be put in danger on a daily basis? That being said, something may have to be done, they’re here, you aren’t going to change that. I agree with eastender, make your opinion and wishes known “IF” you are given the opportunity at a public meeting.

I too wonder about the ALC school. The new elementary was a needed item regardless of the “sinking” reason. There is no way that West, Middle and High schools could hold the numbers we have now. Now the NEW elementary is over capacity with a record number of kindergarden enrollment. Even the Catholic school has its own high enrollment and spacing issues this year. This highschool problem will not go away and will only get worse. I believe we can find a solution and all voices should be heard at the school board meetings once ideas and plans are released.

My question is in regard to the open enrollments from other districts. When you live in Worthington, your property taxes help to pay for the school system. If you live in another community but your child attends school in Worthington, does the students home school district support their educational costs?

I’m not against new schools but I do feel they should be the most basic of structures designed to last one hundred years.

I’m happy to see my taxes go to invest in our youths education then wasted on amenities of this area that I’ll never or rarely use, or to pay off hotheads.

” or to pay off hotheads.” ????????? What part of the tax dollars for education go to paying hothheads? That makes no sense.

“Flooding The Classrooms” and the law enforcement system the social services system, the hospitals and on and on and on. “This highschool problem will not go away and will only get worse.” That is correct. “we can find a solution” that is not. We can build schools until the end of time or till we are completely broke which ever is closer but that will not stop the flood of immigrants causing it! So pee into the wind as you will, until the government steps up to the plate and closes the Flood Gates on the border we will continue to drown!!
