The GFPL has some major issues with damage control, and this sort of letter is no remedy. From its disasterous campaign to get a new building to the revelation that Wendy Wendt’s pay package is over $100K, the average citizen is not likely to have much empathy. I’d suggest a different strategy to gain support.

You keep citing that $100,000. figure, but does that include health benefits, Social Security taxes, and any retirement program? If so, her real salary is probably around $65,000. which is not outrageous for a library director with a master’s degree.

You’ll notice I use the term “salary package.” During the building campaign, her salary was announced at 95.
