This is interesting. You can’t talk about this on the boards in Duluth but it’s okay in South Dakota. That is something else.
Is this a gay issue or a pedophile issue? This man is too old to be with a kid that is 17-18. He should have been charge with something, indecent exposure at least.

Charges should be made. This is sex with a minor regardless of consent. He has no place in politics and should not represent anyone at any level of politics until he is charged and processed in court.

I agree, it’s all pretty seedy. But, according to MPR, the DA can’t press charges because the age of consent in MN is 16, not 18, so no crime was committed.
Gauthier just announced he’s going to stay in the race for reelection and let the voters of his legislative district decide, despite being encouraged by Dem party leaders to drop out. So we’ll see how this plays out.

Gauthier announced this evening that he has changed his mind. He will not seek reelection. He was put under incredible pressure from top Dems to drop out. Who was it who said that Dems wouldn’t show any outrage against “their own”?

Did Obama or Biden co-sponser any bills with the same views as Gauthier? Nope…now did Paul Ryan co-sponser any bills with Akins on the view that no abortions even in rape cases happen? YUP. Thats the clear distinction and exactly why Akin should step down. This is why Akin and the Romney campaign are linked.
