“If there is too much government money involved in any industry, there is too much tendency for that industry to depend on government funding in the long term. Private industry is much more flexible in providing needs.”
I could not agree more. A prime example: the new GF wellness center. The private sector was not stepping up fast enough for some people, and no one was proposing a center the size of the one they wanted, so they made it a function of government to subsidize people’s recreation; then wonder why no private investor was willing to put an LA fitness in GF.

“Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s proposed $125,000 each to five communities in grant money from the Land Board for community-owned facilities is much more in line with reality, in providing help with the shortage, but allowing private business to largely meet the funding needs.”
HELL NO.
It should NOT be the responsibility of the public to pay for daycare. Irresponsible parents have the option of dropping the kids off at any hospital or fire department. Otherwise, PROVIDE FOR YOUR OWN DAMN KIDS.
IF you can’t feed, clothe, house your kids, can’t buy school supplies and the occasional toy–you have no business owning a CD or DVD player, a TV, a game console, a bottle of beer, a can of pop, or a bag of potato chips. You have no right to buy a tattoo or piercing. You have no right to a “night on the town”. YOU ARE AN UNFIT PARENT.
