Mark Hagedorn has been an officer at two banks and a mortgage company in Detroit Lakes and now he wants to put his financial background to work as a county commissioner. The primary election is Tuesday. Continue Reading

I am glad that if you are elected you will bring your fiscally conservative background to the county board on a day-to-day basis, to ensure that tax dollars are not be wasted like they currently are in the Coutny.
When the County is paying late fees for bills, paying twice the cost for common items and not buying from local sources at lower cost it is time for someone like you to take charge and be responsible for what’s going on in the county.
We have seen the tax and spend concept the county operates under with the budget in 2010 going from $16.5 million to over $18.5 this year despite losing over a million in state aid. This impacts every family and business in our County. Why does the county spend over $3000 a year on coffee, when our food bank needs help. The time has come for some sound fiscal management at the County Board level to back up our Auditor-Treasurer and help stop the spend and tax and tax and spend mentality of the County Board.

Makes me wonder what those opposed are for, let’s look at what they are saying:
1. They don’t want accountability of where the County spends our tax dollars. I guess they feel it is okay to waste our money and not having elected officials who hold the Department Heads who waste money responsible.
2. They must like paying late fees and paying twice what they pay at Menards, Central Market, K-Mart, or Wal-Mart for items used ever day by the County. Of course they don’t believe in buying from local sources and saving time, fuel and money – why help local businesses that employ local people – pay more, get less, and shaft the local community.
3. Apparently they don’t get it the county is spending over $2 million more this year than in 2010 – for what – has your services improved by that much?
4. These are the same people who must believe that Ryan or anyone that wants accountability in county government must be stepped on, look what they did to him.
5. They must drink the coffee like the Commissioners, and the Department Heads that cost us over $3000 per year with no one asking why at a time when people in our country go hungry. Add to this that the county spent over $17,500 in lunches for employees and it makes you know why those opposing what is said by Sherri have registered their vote against good government.
