Can someone explain why marijuana would be any different than any other prescription drug (other than that it is possible for a person without a laboratory and access to trade secrets to produce it)? Why wouldn’t it just go through the same process as any other drug. Trials, FDA Approval and prescribed by doctors and dispensed through pharmacies. Just because it has been used recreationally shouldn’t make a difference. People abuse and use prescription drugs to get high now. Why is this any different?

not much difference there, even ‘scripts’ as a lot of young people call them buy, sell to their friends, there isn’t one person here who isn’t on some form of ‘drug’. medicinal or otherwise. prescription, alcohol has killed more than anyone then who have smoked a joint alone. why?

I think the only difference is that marijuana is a far safer, less toxic, and less addictive form of pain management than your typically prescription pill.

On this one I agree….I think he’s saying about the same thing I’ve said…I just don’t think it will pass in this Repo state. Personally…..I’d be for passing total dicriminalization as well as for medical. The idea that people are still going to prison for pot instead of maybe a fine at most is just plain foolish.

North Dakota picked a fight with the federal government as to a recent, far larger, health related issue. I’m sure you’re aware that North Dakota, along with other states, sued the federal government over “obamacare.”

I agree on almost every count. I may stand corrected here…but I dont believe anyone can “veto” something that the citizens have voted into law. Something like that would make the Governor tantamount to a dictator. It would also render voted on initiatives, pointless. That said, I will be shocked if the right wing AG doesnt nit pick those petitions until he finds a way to disallow all or enough of them to delay this. Even if the petitions pass muster, this issue will most likely fail when it gets out to rural, small town (small minded), N.D. for the vote. This state is simply TOO uptight (and backward) to allow a forward thinking matter like this to pass.

You’re right….I was thinking this was a legislation, but if brought to a vote he couldn’t veto it…..Non the less I suppose it could be challenged.

Talk about a business boom. If this goes through, I’m heading to Grand Forks and I’m bringing 95% of all Minnesota with me! We are seceding from the state and will seek asylum at the Grand Forks Dispensary.

Ok Dead…Let’s go into business together…We’ll lease a fairly good size building and put a script store in the middle. Then we section off room on either sides for two other business ventures….On one side we’ll sell Pizza, and on the other we’ll open a candy store……..I bet we could get a couple investors for that little venture….

Hamdogs. And naturally, each place would have a 60 inch HD television that runs Man Vs. Food episodes continually. I am almost positive that I could actually finish some of those food challenges if I had the medicine I need for my alcohol abuse, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, collagen-induced arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, bipolar disorder, colorectal cancer, HIV-Associated Sensory Neuropathy depression, dystonia, epilepsy, digestive diseases, gliomas, hepatitis C, Huntington’s disease, leukemia, skin tumors, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Parkinson’s disease, pruritus, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psoriasis, sickle-cell disease, sleep apnea, and anorexia nervosa.

There is only one thing that will cure anyone with that list of ailments…the perfect dump. It’s a rare but a real thing of beauty. You sit down experiencing the worst, but what you get is a smooth sliding, fart-less masterpiece that breaks the water with the grace of an Olympic high-diving champion. You use the toilet paper just to find out it was totally unnecessary. It makes you feel that all is right with the world.

The far Right and the Libertarians actually should be supporting this. GeauxSioux should really be supporting state rights over federal rights on this or he is a hypocrite. CaptAmerika should be another supporter.

It’s about time this was brought up for a vote in North Dakota. Montana currently allows medicinal marijuana under the 2009 Medical Marijuana Act. South Dakota voters rejected similar ballot initiatives in recent years, with 52 percent opposed in 2006 and 63 percent voting against it in 2010. However attitudes have shifted recently in favor of medicinal marijuana as many people have had personal contact with someone who has or could have benefited from marijuana’s pain-relieving and anti-nausea effects.
