Sanford breaks ground on $541M Fargo hospital

Earth moved Tuesday evening to mark the start of construction on the new $541 million Sanford Medical Center. Plans call for the 10-story center to open in 2016, primarily as a hospital, with interior completion of its clinical wings by 2018.

Go Sanford! I wonder how many “local” contractors will get a peice of the action!

That is the $64,000 question. It is smart business to use as many local contractors as possible. They are your future customers.
That said, the local contractors have to be able to get the job done. Most major municiple contracts now have bonuses for finishing early and penalties for finishing late or over budget. Many small contractors cannot meet the demands such contracts impose. Because of this most large projects such as this one go to businesses big enough to get the job done.
Not saying right or wrong. It is just the way it is.
