Several people were escorted out of the federal courthouse and office building in Duluth on Monday by Duluth Police after they refused to leave when asked by federal security guards.

They get this misguided notion that protesting is being patriotic. Take Action is almost as bad as the occupy movement.

Perhaps because they are sucking on the government teat they have a lot of time on their hands. They couldn’t protest if they had to be at jobs.

“…they could be charged with trespassing.” Isn’t this a federal building on which these people pay money for? Doesn’t this make a US tax paying citizen part owner of that building? When did the government get a little to big for it’s britches!!!! Maybe the federal officers should realize that those citizens not only have a right to be in that building, but they pay the wages that allow them to have a cushy job! Then again maybe their wages, and the money for that building specifically come from the chinese loans that we irresponsibly take!

By that logic, any of us should just be able to freely come and go at the White House, hang out in the Oval Office all day, whatever.
These were probably the same mental giants who were protesting downtown a while back with their “Where’s Chip?” signs while the congressman was at the other end of the block meeting with Duluth business leaders. Clearly not the deep thinkers of the community.

Don’t you think you should be able to go visit the white house? Oh. wait you can!! It’s a public building built by the people for the people. When did society become so ignorant as to forget this! You have the right to visit a public building within reasons of normal operating hours, these people were doing just that. Forcing them out of a public building by threatening trespassing is a violation of our right as Americans!

Contrary to what you believe. Good ol’ 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is open to the public. Believe it or not I hear they even have tours of the facility where you can go inside it!! OMG imagine that!!!

The White House is not exactly “open to the public”. You cannot simply walk up and go inside. In order to take the tour, you need to request it in advance, typically from a congressperson, then the government does a background check, then assuming you pass you need to show up at the specified date and time and you will go through with escorts.
As far as Cravaack’s office in Duluth, I called up got an appointment same day and went home with the White House tour paperwork.

Appointment requirements and security constraints make a White House visit much more difficult than geting an appointment at a local office. This comparison falls short. According to the article the individuals with appointments were seen as scheduled, it was the protesters that the security personal asked to leave. Perhaps making an appointment is the way to go here…unless the ultimate goal was a headline and not meeting and discussing any issues they may have.

Thomas….I agree about taxpayers and voters having a right to be there…..BUT, I suspect they were being unruly, as they did NOT have appointments to be with the staff, except for just 1 person. The DNT did NOT say in the story whether the people there were being unruly…..if they had not been….there should not be a reason for the Federal Protective Services to call the police. Yes, they should have have a right to be there…..but in a NON-COMBATIVE way!

This just in: “Shortly after the group was escorted out, several teams of Plunkett’s and Terminex pest control teams entered the building. Apparently, the areas where the protesters inhabited was contaminated with fleas, ticks and an offensive odor akin to a hot football locker room. A beat up car with a large cockroach driving was seen screeching away from the scene.”

When all else fails (in your quest for entitlements), whine, moan and complain. Don’t any of you have jobs? Go back to your parents basements, and keep working on that 2-year on-line degree in Freeloading.

Do you honestly believe that any left-wing person who has an opinion is just a jobless freeloader? You have an extremely narrow-minded view of the world if you do. I wonder who is financing the perpetuation of opinions like yours.

How ironic. Chippy likes to rant about how he showed up at Oberstar’s office (unannounced) one day, and when he wasn’t able to meet with the congressman (and refused to talk with the available staff instead), he decided Oberstar was “out of touch” and that he was going to run against him. So I guess Chip is out of touch now and all those people should run against him.

LOL…you just beat me to it. I was going to post the same thing.
In fact, Cravaack showed up at Oberstar’s office with a group of about 25 people…no appointment.
I guess my memory is faulty though because, I don’t remember any story about that group being removed from the office by police.

I agree with Katy. When he could not see Congressman Oberstar without an appointment, and was not satisfied seeing staff people instead, Cravaak got angry and called Oberstar “out of touch”. How would he — and his right wing, Tea Party followers — have felt if Oberstar had then called security to remove Chip and his group? I see a double standard here. Also, James — please cut the references to personal hygiene if you want anyone to take any of your opinions seriously. I ask that anyone replying to this post leave their complete and correct name, as I have done.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, here’s what really happened. Cravaack and 25 supporters visited one of Oberstar’s offices to request that Oberstar hold a town hall meeting about Obamacare that Oberstar was going to vote in favor of. I suppose, though this is just a guess, that constituents wanted to know more about the bill and thought a sitting congressman might explain it to them. They waited more than two hours before a staff person said Oberstar was too busy to hold town hall meetings. So the group left. End of story.
Not very dramatic, I know, but sometimes the truth is kind of boring. Nice try, though.

I think Duluth is a small enough town where we know who these protesters are by now. Considering the recent history with “occupy” and other far left movements having taken extreme measures, safety was probably the primary concern.
Let’s judge these people by their fruits. Heck, I even know some of them personally. Don’t doubt me when I tell you; this is a small radical group of anti-american, pro socialism group, they’d even tell you that in private.
Lets not pretend we don’t know who these people are anymore!

I love ironies especially when is drowning in hypocrisy…
Chip was prompted by a tea-nut radio program demanding Oberstar hold a town hall meeting and saying folks should go to Oberstar office and demand one. 25 right wing radical tea-nuts showed up of which Chip was one, without an appointment and when Oberstar didn’t meet with them, Chip says that’s when he decided to run for office.
The group was camped out in Oberstar’s office for over 2 1/2 hours, but nobody called the Police to have them leave…kinda makes one go..mmmmm.
One of Chips campaign talking points was that Oberstar wasn’t available and spent most of time out of district and didn’t represent the district..but Oberstar’s residence was in DC, where one goes to represent the people …once elected Chip moves family residence to New Hampshire. HUH?
And on the town meetings and not being available, I guess everyone forgets that Chip was ignoring Duluth completely, the largest city in district and never held a town hall meeting here…pure hypocrisy… and wasn’t until there were so many protests for a town meeting it finally pressured him to have one here. Which was hasty 24 hour notice, be at the airport in middle of work day because that’s where I’ll be town hall meeting….well at least he had one right? ~rolls eyes~
Now there was another thread where the neocons here were wailing about endorsements for DFL candidates and whining that the media is liberal so it was to be expected. Forgotten I guess is that Forum Communications which owns the DNT is not liberal and that pressured the DNT to endorse Craavak. And why is it that whenever newspapers endorse Repubs you never here cries that newspapers are biased? Despite now that over 80% of our media is owned by large conservative corporations…kinda makes one go, well yeah, the Repubs are 40 years behind in current events..LOL
Lastly since several conservatives love tossing baseless childish insults about these protestors as being radicals that don’t have jobs. Chip was unemployed for over 2 years when he joined the other radical tea-nuts for sit-in in Oberstars office. In fact he quit his job because of sleep apnea and draws a 79K a year disability UNION pension for it. Yes, fatigue not good for a pilot but apparently not so debilitating that can’t support jet-setting between several houses, New Hampshire and DC…while taking in $6,500 a month for a disability that can’t work because too fatigued. Awesome…
An unemployed ex-union steward drawing a hefty disability check whose against health care bill because wife works for Big Pharma…who calls the police for doing exactly what he did, who did exactly what wrongfully accused Oberstar of doing…like said, tons of ironies and drowning in hypocrisy…and the conservatives demonize and criticize and condemn everyone for the exact same things…but of course, Chip has a -R- after his name..so that makes it all different…somehow..I guess..

So when is Cravacck going to hold a town hall meeting here other than the 1 sided fiasco at the airport? He seems to (At least his “Staff”) hold meetings all over the southern part of the district some towns like Braham multiple times but Duluth is never on his schedule! Talk about out of touch!
