The race industry is doing just great. It’s about the only industry that is growing in the US. Why, for the Trayvon Martin case they even invented a brand new race – “White Hispanic”.

Heh. Well, I know you are, but what am I?
Seriously, do you think all the data on white hispanics (and black hispanics, and asian hispanics) is just one big cover-up by the liberal media to pretend that George Zimmerman isn’t the first White Hispanic in existence?

According to the US census forms Hispanic is a race but I do not remember seeing “White Hispanic” as being an identifiable catagory to be checked off by the census respondent. There was no such thing because indeed the term was invented to suit the media and the Dumbocrats need to make the attack and subsequent death a race issue.

I am not sure how long the Census has differentiated between race (e.g., black, white, etc.) and ethnicity (e.g., hispanic or not) but if you for example go to their page on the 1990 census at http://censtats.census.gov/pl94/pl94.shtml and simply click go you can get a break down of each state by race, ethnic origin and they even break down the Not of Hispanic origin group by race, so you can easily get the White Hispanic population by subtracting the White, Not of Hispanic number from the White numbers. I wasn’t old enough to fill out the 1980 census, but clearly the notion and term existed well before you folks are suggesting.

Um, “white hispanic” has been on census forms for decades. Hispanics, Spanish speakers from Latin America, have racial backgrounds from Spain to indigenous to Africa. Most of the elite in Latin America are white, for instance.

My question is why George Zimmermans race is important in the first place ? When someone is killed, it’s tragic, justified or not (yet to be determined at trial).
All this hubub over his race seems senseless. I must confess that I always wonder why the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton only seem to seek out the TV cameras when someone of another race kills a black person. Chicago (and probably other areas too) is awash with black on black killing according to what I read, and they don’t seem to be nearly as concerned….at least publically. Why not ? I certainly hope their public concern and desire to “stir up the pot to a feverish pitch” doesn’t depend on the race of the attacker being something other than black….I guess that would be racist wouldn’t it ?

Dan~ your attempt to misdirect with lame red herring to make appear don’t know what talking about is beyond lame. Jessica raised question of why Jackson doesn’t show up at all murders of blacks and I was explaining why. Apparently you think I was saying that the Trayton case was racially motivated…clean your monitor off and read again…
On your lame attempt…Live by sword, die by it….the reverse also true, you weren’t there, you didn’t witness it and so you don’t know it wasn’t racial motivated. I’ll let the courts decide..

Ohhh Danny Boy… you’re lying..
To quote you directly ~ ~ ” You said the Martin case was a “crime perpetrated because of race or racist stereotypes.” Your words, princess, not mine.”~~
The TRUTH and fact of this charade of yours is that actually half of those words in your first sentence are YOURS princess and NOT mine and I NEVER SAID ANY SUCH THING!!!
You’re either addled or desperate. The fact is I’ve already explained once to you that wasn’t referring to Martin case and speaking in general terms and this is what come back with? You’re taking your made up words and trying to shove them in my mouth by adding to a half sentence of mine and then trying to attribute the whole thing to me and then proclaiming that’s what I said!…weak game and bad form…and a lie.
I was only speaking in the broadest general terms answering Jessica, covered that once with you and you have no hope of proving otherwise, not a snowballs chance in hell, because THE WORDS AREN’T THERE…so you’ve intentionally put them there, but that’s trying to pass off a lie as a truth…Awesome move hater…you’ve only discredited yourself with this and slapping self with stupid stick.
Jessica asked why Sharpton and Jackson don’t show up to murder investigation when is a black killing a black but always when is black killed by white to not forgo the context of what I was responding to. I responded and said and direct quote of just MY words without your alteration …. “One is just a crime and the other is crime perpetrated because of race or racist stereotypes.”
There’s no mention of Trayton Martin case by ME whatsoever. So you’ve taken a piece of what said, added own words and now proclaiming that I said it…
Jessica also lauded the premise that all Sharpton and Jackson did was instigate race issue and that they only showed up to white on black crime to stir the race pot. So I said…and quote…”They’re not instigating anything, the event already happened, they’re merely shining a light on it if it’s racist motivated.”
I have now included every word in my original post within this one. EVERY WORD, both sentences for that’s all it was. Anyone can see I’m speaking the truth and that you’re lying and that I never mentioned Trayton Martin as well as see that I’ve already explained this once. Now there’s one tiny word in that last sentence that proves I was speaking in general terms and not specifically referring to Martin case…and that is of course….”if”. If I was speaking specifically of the Martin case as you are desperately trying to imply I did and that I’ve already judged the case…it would of course then be…~because~ it’s racist motivated. But of course, that word ISN’T there either. But that’s a moot point because I never, ever, mentioned Trayton Martin to begin with.
“Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man’s sense of values and his objectivity. It is not there directly as they ask ethnicity and race in two different questions.
Question 5, is the person of Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin?
Several possible answers (this is the ethnicity question)
Question 6, what is this person’s race?
Several possible answers including white (this is the race question)
So someone who answers one of the hispanic possibilities for question 5 and then checks white for question 6 is a white hispanic (think, for example, Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls). If you answer one of the hispanic possibilities for question 5 and then select black for question 6 you are a black hispanic. And so on.
As I noted above this has been around at least since the 1990 census, probably earlier.

Thank you for correcting me and my memory. By the info you have pointed to, the race would be white and the ethnicity hispanic would be a subcatagory under the race. There is no such thing as the race “white hispanic”. So to be correct we would be saying either a white hispanic or a black hispanic etc. Thanks again for the clarification.

When you listen to Obama, I mean really listen, you can see he is pandering to only his base of support. When you understand exactly what Obama is saying and promising you will see his desperate efforts to solidify his base of support. His base of support is made of those who will vote for him regardless of issues or his on-going rate of failure because “he’s black like me”, hispanics especially illegals, and the welfare class. He also panders to unions, only because he needs their campaign contributions. Other than union members you can see that Obamas base of support is comprised of those people who are undereducated. That is his target audience because they are incapable of, and unwilling to try, understanding the damage to this country and to the world of his actions and his policies. They see that he is talking directly to them and promising them the moon, and all the stars too (and he is black like them) and that is all that matters to the ignorant.

Levi: The problem with your logic is that someone has to pay for that which is given to the takers, as you called them the poverty class and lower middle income. At this point in time there are not enough payers to support the cost of that given away by the government. When people are misled to believe that if they vote for Hussein they will get even more they are victims of a massive lie. There simply is not enough money to pay for his promises. Levi, I haven’t really been following this entire conversation, but just reading the last few posts exchanged between you and a couple others, a thought occured to me about voting in our self interest.
Of course many if not most of us do generally vote in our self interest. That might not always be good…..but it’s most likely the way 98% of voters vote.
That being said, I’m wondering if there is a difference between voting your self interest in order to keep more of what you’ve earned……and voting your self interest to by legal means (tax policy, income redistrubution, funding social services etc.. positions of your choosen candidate) capture more of what somebody else has earned for yourself.
So maybe the question boils down to whether either side (or maybe neither) has the moral high ground in this debate. Is it better/worse to be considered “selfish” by voting for the candidate that will allow you to keep more of what you’ve earned rather than sharing it with others…….or is is better/worse to covet that which another has earned and to vote for the candidate that will allow you to by legal acquire some of that for your own benefit ???

Jessica, the way you’ve worded your question shows that you’ve already decided the answer. You seem to think voting selfishly is better if you’re rich than if you’re poor, because rich people earned their money, while the poor are just stealing from the rich. This mentality is why people make the joke about how Republicans spend all their time & energy “helping those with the means to help themselves.”
It’s particularly cruel (but sadly common these days) to accuse people of being covetous simply because they want food, shelter, and medical care.
The reason Democrats have the moral highground is because they use tax money to fund programs that help people who actually need help, while Republicans would funnel the majority of that money into the pockets of the wealthy.

to jessica …do you think slave owners earned their wealth?…how about the ceos of companies who send their operations overseas to pay 12 year olds next to nothing….exploitation is not earning. Conservatives like to claim that the economy isnt a zero sum game where there are losers and winners but rather we all can be winners in the “rising tide lifts all boats” theory. I argue it is a zero sum game …the more one person earns the less another does… to try to claim otherwise really defies reality up to the present day. Therefore workers unionize to collect what they deem is their fair share of the actual earned wealth, and likewise those on top realize in order to stay on top they have to skim from the bottom so to speak. On another note we have a problem in this country when investment income is deemed more earned then income derived from actual labor (taxed at a lower rate so they “deserve” or “earned” it more?) Sorry kinda off topic jessica but self interest always leads to people joining together..if anarchy all of a sudden ensued government would again rise from the ashes because its human nature to cooperate not only for their own self interest but for the collective benefit as well.

Obama is black when he is with African Americans and white when he is with Hollywood elites. What we all know now is he is dangerous when dealing with the economy and health care. He has increased the takers class of Americans to be more than the makers. The color of his skin has nothing to do with his inabitiy to know how to fix the economy. He says his plan has worked? But then I would be buying the author’s premise – that a Governor is inferior to a President. Not true. They are peers.
Anyway, the picture is not an apt example of the idea the author is pushing. It’s more of a feminist issue when a woman is criticized for speaking her mind to a man.

Murderapolis is hardly the know-all end-all of mankinds wisdom so any document from that city is of questionable value and certainly not something upon which mankind should base any definitions. BTW: If we were to lend any credence to Murderapolis’ definition of power then blacks used to have significant power. They used to have power back when race injuustices caused the race card to be played. All people back then used to sit up and take notice of the race card and thereby gave blacks significant power in rectifying racial injustices and discrimination. Now the race card gets played for every little perceived issue like maybe a black getting a half ounce less ice cream on their cone than what the white person in front of them got. The race card has been so over played NOBODY pays any attention any more and subsequently blacks have abdicated the significant power they had.

Instead all the bashing on Obama did this wrong and he messed up the country why doesn’t anyone post facts as to what hes done so wrong? Healthcare is bad and is going to cost the taxpayers sooooo much yet the republicans fail to let people know how much it has saved the taxpayers through fraudulent medicare claims alone which is just over 5 billion! As for the debt going up? If you spend more while not putting enough in of course its going to go up! However again the republicans want everyone to believe that getting rid of the tax cuts will only cost us jobs, they fail to realize the jobs are already gone over the pond and not just through Obama’s doing he is actually tryingto do something about outsourcing called insourcing and lets not forget our last joke for a president that said “I’m all for outsourcing its great for our foreign relations! How much would it have cost to rebuild our highways in the early 2000′s when Bush was told it needed to be done and he only replied I ain’t spending money on highways when I got a war to fund, and then turns around and takes trillions out of the country’s piggy bank through his tax cuts for the ultra rich! Spend spend spend? When are people going to take off the bill what was paid back through the bailouts? Most people that I know who call the president by his middle name or other derogatory names usually have a boat load of racial issues to begin with!
Giver me all the thumbs down you wish however its still the truth!

Tim~ Just a heads up and nice post and spot on btw. Do not expect a debate of reason and facts from neocons. I’ve dealt with them for over 10 years on line and was a moderator of largest political debate group on Yahoo at one point with 15,000 members and have yet to run into one that could actually support their own rhetoric. Here, they are the worst and act like children, or the brainwashed masses that actually think Faux News is fair and balanced and they believe all the tripe are fed. The nonsense that goes on here, some of it is such unadutered nonsense that makes one question if the posters are old enough to walk in a bar, but the nonsense from them regardless would get them kicked off a jr. high debate team.
The group mentioned that moderated was uncensored but you had to support your position. We’re on the web forgawdsakes and one was expected to provide a link and support for their position, NOT just rant a bunch of nonsense. That doesn’t happen here, it’ s more childish nonsense then anything and is used by neocons to just spew and vent garbage and falsehoods in general.
All one can do is prevent the spread of disinformation by them by shining a light on the falsehoods and backing it up. Expect a lot of childish responses including the infantile game here of having your post hammered with thumbs down to collapse it if doesn’t cosign their nonsense. Don’t expect reasoned debate, expect to be called lots of names and personal attacks on the messenger while sidestepping your points. They think if calls one a liberal or marxist that suffices as a rebuttal and proves their right is primary tact they use.
You are also correct about folks having racial issues and these boards drowning with haters but like the above mentioned, they can’t back up their rhetoric either because is also belief system with falsehoods as cornerstones.
