I think some of this is just plain silly. What’s wrong with Tomahawk Lake? It’s the name of an implement, for heaven’s sake, and nothing sacred about that implement, either. It probably refers to shape, or perhaps some historical event. I always like to point out that at the many pow wows I’ve participated in, the hosts refer to themselves as–Indians. Anyone born in this country is a Native American. Sometimes I think people go out of their way to be offended, or to see possible offense when there is none.
