I stillmake them- and serve them to even Italian friends who also call them Dagos- maybe it is an Iron Range thing- We all have nicknames that no one is insulted by- just the outsiders who don’t understand and Iry to make someting of it- I could type in many of these terms used everyday among Rangers- it is just accepted. Yes, Tansey, I grew up on the range. Most of us had immigrant grandparents ( except the Indian kids of course).
It was very ethnically relaxed. I saw plenty of fist fights over girls and hockey games but I never once saw a fight because someone called someone a dago. No one cared. It was part of the culture.

I read on-line only the few articles (like this one) that catch my eye due to the absurdity of that which is written by the authors. The DNT is now nothing more than the “house organ” for the wacko liberal left here in Duluth and it continually amazes me at what gets published as news. And it should surprise me (but doesn’t) at what doesn’t get published because articles in other on-line papers reveal that censorship of news is alive and well at the DNT, presumably because it doesn’t fit the local libs agenda. The DNT is worthless as a real source of news.

It’s alright because only certain groups are taught to feel they are victims. They are taught that the deck is stacked against them so they might as well not even try. That is the “Victim” mindset and it discourages even the most minor efforts at self improvement. Most other groups (like Scandenavians, Dagos and hunkies for example) have a backbone and they stand tall in the light of adversity and hardship (and ridicule) and they work hard to overcome the hardships and adversity.
