Romney resume from 2002 in focus amid Olympic rift
July 27, 2012 at 5:59 am in West Central Tribune
LONDON (AP) — On a trip already marked by misstep, Mitt Romney has an Olympic history that could prove problematic: His stewardship of the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City was not without controversy.

Foreign relations is an important duty of any nation’s leader – you better care what our allies think. Just like the left and right need to work towards compromise – so do world leaders on policies that can affect global security.

By the way, it is more important for our existing President to stop campaigning and to find a way to keep the country from diving into another deep recession. Top priority is recovering from the mess Obama has us in then we can worry about the rest of the world.

I always have to laugh when the far right complains about Obama not getting us out of the hole that Bush put us in fast enough. It was Republican policy that created this mess. It defies logic to want to go back to those policies. I think Obama has done a fantastic job of keeping the country from going into a full blown depression.

Obama clearly stated that if he did not have the economy turned around by the end of his first term that he would not deserve to be re-elected. He has failed to keep his promise and has proven himself to be incapable of resolving the nations economic issues.
As he himself said its time for him to go.

Sorry Leroy Mittmoney is not getting Obama out of office, and I am not sure what are you reading and seeing? The guys campaign is turning into shambles. Mittmoney is an empty suit and voters are already bailing on the guy. It does matter what other nations think, especially when you insult countries we are in good relations with not to mention Salt Lake city here in America. Of course they know like we do Mittmoney is not going to win, all he has is money, and a failed record as a former gov. He has no real working plans to make the economy better, and even worst, he has cost many people their jobs with his company Bain who down sizes, takes big fees, and then these companies hand out Golden Parachutes to their executives. People are tired of that, and tired of those getting rich for failing.

Since it appears from your remarks , you have probably have never owned, operated, or invested in a business. Sometimes you have to make choices of allowing a business to contiune operating or to close down the business, when you see no improvement or a foreseeable future, no matter how much money one may have to invest. That is the business life cycle. But I notice, you will not give Romney credit for seeing the future and investing in Staples which created jobs.

Or Barry talking over the band trying to play God Save the Queen?
Or President Narcissus giving the Queen of England an iPod loaded with videos and pictures of HIMSELF, for Her Majesty to reflect on and draw wisdom from?
How about his State Department saying ““There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.”

Did White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer lie when he claimed that Barack Obama did not get rid of the bust of Winston Churchill by quickly dumping it back the UK, or was he just amazingly misinformed?
This being the Obama administration, I would bet every penny I have on door #1.
In his Friday column, Charles Krauthammer, the great Washington Post columnist, pointed out that Barack Obama “started his Presidency by returning to the British Embassy the bust of Winston Churchill that had graced the Oval Office.” Before the day was out, Pfeiffer put out an angry press release which called Krauthammer’s claim “100% false” and claimed the bust was still in the White House.
Well, the UK certainly doesn’t think so. It stated that the bust was leant to the United States during the previous (Bush) administration but, when Barack Obama was elected, “The new President has decided not to continue this loan and the bust has now been returned.”
So not only is Pfeiffer dead wrong, but let’s understand that it isn’t that the UK asked for the bust, it is that President Obama got rid of it.
You can read Mr. Krauthammer’s full account of this ridiculous example of Obama administration deception or ignorance (draw your own conclusions)by clicking here.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/charles-krauthammer-busted-mr-pfeiffer-and-the-white-house-blog/2012/07/29/gJQA8M46IX_story.html?tid=pm_pop
There are several reasons that this is important. One of them is the insult of quickly removing the Churchill bust and dumping it back to the UK. A second is the fact that this administration, again (and again and again) either does know know what it is talking about or just lies to our faces.

Carlson we are talking about a guy who is running for office of President, yet can’t get his facts straight, and flip flops more then McCain. Mittmoney has enough bagage to weigh down his wifes horses, and ticking off other countries shows the guy simply has no foreign policy, he thinks he can wing it with a smile while throwing around insults and opinions. You may not be especially fond of anyone country, but diplomacy is always better then insults. Another guy who wants to follow Bush, and guess what, Bush will not attend the Republican Convention…If you are managing on the poverty line or below, if your elderly, or disabled, why in the world would you vote for a money man who has a poor record for job growth when he was a governor, and operated a company that outsources jobs to other countries? Meanwhile Bain his company helps to hand out Golden Parachutes, break unions, and take away Pensions for cost effectiveness, yet it didn’t stop him from taking big fees, even when the company was going out of business. Mittmoney won’t disclose his tax returns, and why is that so hard too do? Anyone with any sense of intelligence knows Obama is the guy for 2012. MittBrit issue is just the topping on a bumbling, stumbling campaign, of distortion, baseless, and unfounded facts about the President.

“It’s hard to know just how well it will turn out. There are a few things that were disconcerting.” Romney told NBC News from London on July 25th.
“The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials–that obviously is not something which is encouraging.”
Romney called into question whether the British people as a whole were behind the spectacle, saying this would be key to their success.
“Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that’s something which we will find out once the games actually begin.” Romney said.
This trip wasn’t a time for Romney to put on his Olympics-consultant hat and offer constructive criticism over security arrangements. It was a moment for him to say “Hooray for our allies!” and “Go. USA!”
But Romney wasn’t wrong about Olympic security. Brits are annoyed at Romney for telling the truth and saying what everyone else is saying about the problem.
According to Piers Morgan; “It’s no secret over here that for the last three weeks the security around the Olympics has been a shambles,” said Morgan.
“The outside firm they got in to run it has been all over the place–they didn’t have enough people and the army had to be drafted in. So, Mitt Romney was saying only exactly what has been happening.”
“He’s run Olympics, so I thought he was perfectly entitled to be critical,” Morgan continued. He said that the English press jumped on him because they wanted Romney “to talk us up a bit,” but the substance of Romney’s critique was on point.
“I thought it was a bit of a fuss about nothing,” said Morgan. “He was just speaking the truth which can always be rather unpalatable.”
No one will remember this in November, but it did start Romney’s foreign tour off on the wrong foot. In my opinion Mr. Romney told the truth when the British expected him to fabricate a story.
I’m not a Republican. But I will defend him for speaking the truth which is always the right thing to do. The Brit’s are a touchy bunch. Well suck it up…. IMO Mr. B.

G.W. Bush – deserter– McCain a traitor- http://www.wakeupfromyourslumber.com/node/6065 PRISONER OR HONORED GUEST?
McCain’s 5½-year stay at the Hanoi Hilton (officially Hoa Loa Prison) has ever since been the subject of great controversy. He maintains that he was tortured and otherwise badly mistreated. One of many who disagree is Dennis Johnson, imprisoned at Hanoi and never given treatment for his broken leg. He reports that every time he saw McCain, who was generally kept segregated, the man was clean-shaven, dressed in fresh clothes, and appeared comfortable among North Vietnamese Army officers. He adds that he frequently heard McCain’s collaborative statements broadcast over the prison’s loud speakers.
” Jack McLamb is a highly respected name in law enforcement circles. After 9 years of clandestine operations in Cambodia and unmentionable areas, he returned home to Phoenix where he became one of the most decorated police officers on record. Twice McLamb was named Officer of the Year. He went on to become an FBI hostage negotiator. This man has stated that every one of the many former POWs he has talked with consider McCain a traitor. States McLamb, “He was never tortured…The Vietnamese Communists called him the Songbird, that’s his code name, Songbird McCain, because he just came into the camp singing and telling them everything they wanted to know.” McLamb further quotes former POWs as saying McCain starred in 32 propaganda videos in which he denounced his country and comrades.”

But, I do ask, since January, 2009, currently, the total Federal Debt has risen and now stands at $15.9 Trillion or a $5.3 Trillion increase in just over 3 and 1/2 years.
Maybe you would like to enlighten us as to how we got to that total?

Yeah Jimmy 911 was something we should have just ignored right? Is that what you think? Did you have a better solution? Did the Democratic Congress have or present a better solution than going to war? Wait, didn’t the Democrats vote to go to war, too? You seem to think your hindsight is so clear, I think you have beer goggles on. What do you stand for? Do you stand with the United States, when it comes to national security? If not you stand against the United States. If we aren’t willing to stand up for ourselves, surely no one else will. 911 was a direct attack, not on our an embassy in another country. It was an attack on all of us, and ON OUR OWN SOIL. I know many of you think we are to blame for all of that, but most of those killed in the 911 attacks were inocent civilians! That in and of itself is an act of war. What would have been a better solution than going to war, when you are attacked on your own soil? If you have that solution maybe you should be running for office. What’s done is done, and good or bad, I think there was little choice. If you have no better solution than going to war at a time like that, then get over it, and stop trying to blame one individual for something that ALL of Congress decided on!!!!!

Mitt Romney, who’s currently in Israel holding secretive fundraisers out of the view of the press, loves to brag about his close friendship with with Bibi Netanyahu.
“We can almost speak in shorthand,” Mr. Romney said in an interview. “We share common experiences and have a perspective and underpinning which is similar.” [...] “Before I made a statement of that nature, I’d get on the phone to my friend Bibi Netanyahu and say: ‘Would it help if I say this? What would you like me to do?’”
And,
“Israel’s current prime minister is not just a friend, he’s an old friend,” Mitt Romney, with whom Netanyahu worked at the Boston Consulting Group in the 1970s, told aipac in March.

You want a real gaffe? In May of this year Obama embarrassed himself and the entire country by referring to “Polish Death Camps.” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Mr. Obama was guilty of “ignorance, lack of knowledge, bad intentions.” For many Poles, Mr. Obama’s statement was more than an innocent gaffe: it was a grave distortion of the darkest chapter in Polish history. “When someone says ‘Polish death camps,’ it’s as if there were no Nazis, no German responsibility, as if there was no Hitler,” Mr. Tusk said. “That is why our Polish sensitivity in these situations is so much more than just simply a feeling of national pride.” The United States has had a close relationship with Poland, though the Polish government was irked when Mr. Obama decided to scale back the Bush administration’s missile defense system in Eastern Europe.

This blog is about Mitt Romney making honest remarks about security and organization at the London Olympics. Perhaps you have noticed at least half the seats are empty, yet family members of athletes could not get tickets. Why? Traditional security could not be hired, hence the military was activated to fill the security void. This will go down as poorly managed and Mitt Romney called it!

Exactly. Why get so worked up over politics? I would think that after losing bac and Alton on this site people would calm down a little bit and be polite to one another.

Have you spoken with either one of them? I have and the moderator that blocked them. I tried to help one of them get their privileges back. No offense but I do know what I am talking about.

Excuse this off topic post, but how can you add 160000 jobs and have unemployment go up to 8.3%? I reviewed the job report and found our total labor force decreased 170,000. My question is why does’nt the labor report simply state we lost 10,000 jobs?
