July 24, 2012 at 7:00 pm in The Dickinson Press
From complaints of creating a hostile work environment to making sexual innuendos to being banned from the dispatch area twice, former and current Stark County Sheriff’s Office employees and Stark County officials began building their case Tuesday against the county’s sheriff, Clarence Tuhy. “Stark County officials began building their case” …
So … how many of these pencil-neck, parasitical “officials” are elected, as the Sheriff is?
Hot debate. What do you think?

According to the newspaper for tomorrow, it doesn’t sound like they have much of a case, just wasting their time & the tax payers money! The County Commissioners are voted in aren’t they? Too bad this wasn’t an election year for them! I don’t know how many would be voted in again after what they just did to the Sheriff & this Community!

Some of the county commissioners are going to be re-elected this year. They are just running unopposed.

So its ok for the sheriff to waste our taxpayers money? He drives his sheriff truck everywhere on off duty time … THAT’S OUR TAX DOLLARS BEING WASTED!!!

Part of being a Sheriff is being ON CALL 24/7. So yes the Sheriff needs his vehicle readily accesable at all times! I feel comfortable knowing that he has it in case of emergencies! How do you know he drives it on & off duty? What are you doing-spying on him? I like the fact that he does PR work & yes while in his work vehicle. It makes the Community feel safer seeing more Patrol cars on the streets. Also, the Community likes that he cares enough to do PR stops! So if you consider the Sheriff watching out for the Community and getting to know the people a waste of money, then so be it!

The Sheriff is never on call, the deputies are! And even when the deputies are on call, they can’t just go out and patrol in their sheriff vehicle!!! Stop trying to cover up for all the wrong things this sheriff has done!

It is time for the sheriff to go. There have been several issues within the sheriffs office since he took office 10 years ago. The “I can do what ever I want attitude” does not cut it in this day and age.

How much money of the tax paying citizens has been spent to try to ruin the Sheriff and his family? I believe I heard somewhere around $10,000- to prove that he really did NOT steal the item from the House of Manna. Really? We certainly could have used that money elsewhere! What is it costing to have this hearing against Sheriff Tuhy? What a waste of money that our County Commissioners threw away just because of a few disgruntled ex-employees! If the Sheriff has been so horrible, why was he voted in by over 70% of the Community, not once but three times? You would think if there were so many problems soon after he was elected the 1st time, that these situations would have been made public before!

Birdwatcher, this was an election year, and at least two county commission spots were up for re-election. Consider the amount of money the county has spent to train, buy uniforms etc. for the 15 or so officers who have left the sheriff’s department, and the $10,000 is just a drop in the bucket compared to that. The problem here appears to be the sheriff’s attitude at work!

You have a few things wrong. The 17 that quit were not all deputies. Some were Office staff. One moved south to be closer to her parents, one retired, one left to take a better paying position, one quit because of living in a small town & didn’t want to travel in the winter, & another shouldn’t have been hired anyway. For the deputies, I know some left for the better pay in the oil fields, one had to quit because his wife did not want to move here, one had to quit because of some problems, etc. Have you looked at the Police Dept. or Highway Patrol, or WalMart, or any other business in this town? The turn over rate is high all over! How can you honestly say that everyone left because of the Sheriff?

Even if there were five or more deputies that left because of the sheriff, the money spent to train and equip them would be considerably more than $10,000. I repeat again, the problem here appears to be the sheriff’s attitude at work!

Birdwatcher, did you ever think that the reason Tuhy continues to be re-elected is because between him and his opponent he is sadly the better of the two? What the community see’s in Tuhy is a whole other side than what his employees see. Everyone has two sides to them and of course he wants the better side to show to the people of stark county. Either way unless you are one of the people who have been treated poorly than you can’t really sit here and say it never happened. Just because it didnt happen to you doesn’t mean it never happened to anyone else.
