Bachmann broadens Muslim Brotherhood allegations
July 20, 2012 at 4:28 am in Grand Forks Herald
Rep. Michele Bachmann has accused a fellow Minnesota congressman, Democrat Keith Ellison, of having associations with the Muslim Brotherhood, a fundamentalist group with political strength in Egypt. Continue Reading

Joseph McCarthy anybody….? This woman was running for the republican nomination for cripes sake. If she were a democrat I would be taking her to the woodshed in blogland. I guess the republicans will stomach anyone with and r after their name. That’s what people mean when they say the gop loves their party more than the country.

Fox News, that bastion of liberal thought and influence published an editorial by Edward Rollins, Bachmann’s former campaign chief slamming her for psychotic views. You know its bad when your former campaign chairman slaps you down on the only channel that will still take you seriously.
Unfortunately, I will bet that when the time comes she will get re-elected. MN are a little “special needs” that way.

What’s sad is just how well the Bachmann napalm approach to politics works — she has just been reported as one of the top campaign fundraisers so far this season.
What’s ironic is that it isn’t religion she’s afraid of in government — just religions other than her own version. She would undermine the secular nature of the constitution in a heartbeat if she could.
What’s dismaying is that a relatively sane state like Minnesota keeps re-electing her to Congress. Let’s hope sanity prevails at the next opportunity!

Unfortunately, I know people who are fairly intelligent that just lap this kind of stuff up. It seems the nuttier and more outrageous it is, the more they believe it.
They are so blinded by their hatred of Obama, Democrats, non-Christians (basically anyone slightly different from them), that all rational thought and common sense go out the window.

Yes, I know an evangelical Christian who spews hate towards anyone not like her-I have learned to just walk away because you can’t in any way disagree with her. Apparently she did not read the part of the bible where Jesus says “Love your neighbor” and He didn’t add only if your neighbor looks like you and believes as you do. It simply amazes me that alot of Christians aren’t very interested in following the teachings of Christ.

Jesus didn’t stop with telling us to love our neighbor. He also told us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. I am terribly saddened by much of the behavior of professing Christians who shed more heat than light. Jesus told the Pharisees that they would strain out a gnat and swallow a camel. The party of the Pharisees may no longer exist, but the attitude is as robust as ever.

It’s a sad commentary about MN politics when this kind of crap oozes out of an elected official. It just goes to show you that in America and nut can get elected to office. Michelle comes from a district where cousins marry cousins so I guess it’s not too surprising that they eat this crap up. Not only is Michelle racist and religiously intolerant but she is just plain crazy. She should be declaired incompetent to hold office.

Ok I lived in part of the 6th district for many years (southern Anoka county) and I am pretty positive my area for sure doesn’t fall into your blanket stereotype. Gah! Blasted unintended double negatives! Nobody in my hometown is that way, is what I meant to say. But I did forget to mention that, while neither an affiliated democrat or republican myself I feel that she, much like rush limbaugh, need to be taken out back and put down. There is an acceptable level of crazy and out there in this world, but these two absolutely demolished that line a lllloooooong time ago.
To be fair to the right, I feel the same about the super liberals that feel that now that another mass killing has happened (may God bless all those poor souls) all guns must be outlawed, its the guns fault not the crazy mentally messed up dude who decided to pull the triggers. And of course the “i would jump off a bridge if the union told me to cuz the union is always right about everything. All hail the union!” Types. They can all go too.

I am a Bible believing Evangelical Christian. I am a dyed in the wool Calvinist. I am so conservative I don’t even like myself.
This woman and those like her make me want to vomit. God is not Republican. He is not Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or Green. He is God.
If your politics happen to agree with His, great. That said, don’t take it as an endorsement. It is more than likely a coincidence.
If you look at His Word (the bible) you would get the distinct impression that God has very little regard for politics. In fact the best word to describe His feelings towards politics and secular government would be “disdain.”
Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar and give unto God that which is God’s.
It goes downhill from there. Libertarian’s are correct in that God does not charge, or even trust government to solve man’s problems. That is the church’s job.
He did not say build massive social programs to take care of the poor, He told the church to do that. I wonder if Michelle’s church has a food pantry?
He said if you have two cloaks to give one to the poor. I wonder what Michelle’s closet looks like?
The only saving grace in all this is God’s promise to set straight those who use His name for their own advancement. In lay terms it will suck to be them on the day of reckoning. I hope I am not standing next to Michelle or any of these other losers when her time comes. To say it is going to be hot where she is going is an understatement.

Asking questions is one thing but she shouldn’t be making accusations without the facts to back it up. She’s a loose cannon with access to our most private intelligence. House Speaker Boehner appointed her to the Permanent Select Intelligence Committee. Now he needs to rethink that decision. Michelle reminds me of Geraldo Rivera….the day he gave away the location of our troops on national television. Frankly I don’t think she knows how to keep her mouth shut.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. Muslims are and will be a major player on the world stage for the foreseeable future. That said, speaking in purely strategic terms, I am much more worried about what comes out of Beijing than Tehran.
Bachmann is deserving of neither respect or consideration. She is a comedian in an expensive pant suit.

All of my responses have garnered a fair amount of negative feedback. Is that because they do not like me insulting Bachmann or because they honestly believe Islam is not protected (or should not be protected) by the First Amendment?
This is not an idle question. One of the pilots I work with is a military veteran and a former police officer. While he had no problem protecting Neo Nazi from Jewish protestors (In America everyone has a right to their opinion) he honestly believes Islam is not a protected religion because of 9/11.
He admits he is probably wrong, but since some Muslims have come out in favor of destroying the US, he is willing to disenfranchise an entire group of people. He is my friend so I said it with as much respect as possible, but I told him I was thankful he no longer carried a badge. He no longer was worthy of that responsibility.

I agree. Lack of familiarity breeds fear. I laughed when we first moved here & my older boys had to take a multicultural class to graduate. The school they were in before had 40 nationalities & 14 primary languages. It was the freaking UN. Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu & Lord knows what else. Deep south snake charmers.
There are many advantages to that type of exposure. There are also many disadvantages. The town was riddled with gangs that broke down along racial lines. In that way it was like a 350,000 person prison.
America has always been & will always be a multicultural country. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

You pretty much hit it on the nose……I think a lot of people fear what they’re never in contact with and probably have received wrong information about…..I’ve been down around the water Market in Chicago, East, LA and many other equally tough areas around the country….Of course things can happen, but a lot of it is in the mind set before going someplace. Hell…Bachmann probably has extremely limited contact with any Muslims. On the other hand she is mostly playing to the lunitic fringe of the fox party so who knows if she actually has any real ill will towards Muslims….Who knows if she has any real stand on most issues?

I have wondered the same thing. Is she really that mentally deficient, or is she in fact crazy like a fox? I remember Cher talking about Sonny Bono after he died. She said he was so smart and so strong he had no problem playing the fool. She said he was the brains and she was the voice box. He didn’t care what people thought of his intellect as long as the checks did not bounce.
When I am feeling kind towards the woman I would like to think that is true of her as well; that she is just playing the lunatic fringe for free publicity.
Unfortunately I doubt it. No one is that good an actor.

Apparently you’re a real GOP…I’m glad that you’re mad as hell and hope you do something about stopping the lunitic fringe from taking over your party….They are the people who have blinders to anything other than their own wants….And they get people like Bachmann in there for them. Unfortunately Alvin when those who are in the public eye like her and other loonies they are seen as a representation of the party…Even if they are the destorted view.
I know other GOP members who are very disgusted at what’s become of their party. Hopefully there will be a surge to take the party back because up to now it really does appear that the GOP (Including our state reps) is doing everything in lock step, and not giving real consideration to their constituants…
Thje propaganda channels works well…Until people get angry enough to actually start paying attention to actual news instead of opinion……

Any political district that elects someone who’s family runs a business based on BIGOTRY AND HATRED, should be ashamed of itself. Realizing how unfair it is to take a politician – any politician – at face value, I decided to do a little reading & see what I could find regarding her claims. In the interest of fairness I started with Fox news & went to the right from there.
The main arguments against this woman seem to be her parents are Muslim & either belong or have belonged to politically active Muslim organizations.
The parallels between Bachmann & the Un-American Activities Committee are unmistakable. You can hear Senator Joe in the background screaming “are you now, or have you ever been a member of the Muslim faith?”
My only question for Michelle & her supporters: when did being Muslim or not supporting Israel become a crime?
Last time I checked, both were perfectly acceptable under the constitution. Then again, being communist was never illegal, but that never stopped Senator Joe.
