I agree to a point about not relying on mainstream media. It’s always better to get multiple sources.
Obama is not gutting welfare. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/07/17/is-obama-gutting-welfare-reform/
Executive privilege(orders) go all the way back to George Washington and has been used by almost every president. Were they all dictators?

I wonder what non-mainstream media the author gets his information from?
Here’s the information on the sales tax provision in the health care bill, as explained in a government website blog. The author is WAY off base, according to this. Read on if you’re interested in facts, not opinion.

Obviously the author took some time to write this letter, and presumably drop it in the mail. It takes just a few seconds to verify information before putting allegations out there, from multiple sources on the web. Why continue to scare people with misleading information?

I would also like to know where Mr. Christoffer got his information. I stated mine.

Un-named misinformation….not shocking really. Bet he liked the “Eight years was awesome, and I was famous and I was powerful” guy.

“Bill Maher”—– Now THERE’S a classy, caring individual. This man is an absolutely vulgar and classles idividual. I would NEVER qoute anything that piece of work states. And the “giving a doga pill wrapped in bolgna” statement? The Repubs can’t afford the bologna to wrap the pill in any more since the”Dems”, started controlling the congressional purse strings in 2006. Ironic how, that’s about the time our economy looked like the water swirling down the drain in your sink.

You don’t have to listen to Maher. In fact, he’s hard to get to since he’s on HBO. But if you’re wealthy enough to afford this premium cable feature, just switch the channel when he comes on.
I guess you’d rather collect pearls of wisdom from Rush and Glenn Beck and Michele Bachmann? They are AT LEAST as outrageous as Bill Maher. Who you listen to is your choice. Isn’t America great?
2006. How soon we forget! Those were the last 2 years of the Bush administration. Things were well on their way “down the drain” long before 2006, though. And do you need to be reminded that the do-nothing Congress has been controlled (strangled) by the Republicans for the past 2 years? There’s plenty of blame to go around. If you really can’t afford a ‘baloney sandwich’, there are (government-funded) agencies that can help you out if you need.

I wonder if Bill Maher ever had to be escorted to the door for his classless behavior?

Don’t watch him. I, however, wouldn’t call him a sycophant (synonym).
I choose to avoid people who irritate me. For that reason, I avoid Rush, Glenn, Hannity, Ann Coulter and O’Reilly. It’s good for the blood pressure.

“If you really can’t afford a ‘baloney sandwich’, there are (government-funded) agencies that can help you out if you need.”—– I’m well aware of that but I like to WORK for what I get! You are right though about programs available. It show in the 46% increase in food stamp recipients since obama took over. But with a REAL unemployment rate around 14.8%, and NOT the 8.2 % they like to tout. I can see why it’s risen, your guy has done such a WONDERFUL job. So good in fact, that even HE won’t talk about it. And we went through this before, I don’t listen to Beck, Rush or Bachmann. I use numerous sources to draw an educated opinion. You folks on the far left are SOOOOOOO predictable in your thoughts and behaviors. Every time you read an opposing opinion somewhere, the first thing they say is, “stop listening to Beck, Rush, etc.” But, when you get your “opinions” fed to you through the Huffington Post, Washington Post and the Daily Kos, one can’t be expected to form their own.

Who wants to break the news to Mr. Christoffer that the allegations he makes in his letter are bogus, not based on fact but rather on rumors designed to frighten the citizenry? Somebody really ought to tell him.
The sad fact is that people who read the letter ONLY in the print edition of the Globe probably won’t get the word that what he said is wrong. That is unfortunate since we need an educated electorate.

“I’ve met some of the most interesting, classy, and intelligent people in the lefty sources you listed and I’m not ashamed to admit that I use them, as well as many other lefty sources.”— That’s the difference between us I guess. I’m not ignorant enough to subscribe to one mIndset. I look at ALL points of view, from BOTH sides. How can you possibly come up with an EDUCATED decision if you only listen to one side of the story? You should really look at some of the “non-left” or bi-partisan sites. You’d be surprised at what some of the “palace guards” in the media DON’T tell you, when it sheds a bad light on the current administration. Education is a wonderful thing when you have ALL the information to weigh. Please tell me how the economy has improved greatly over the past four years. Why doesn’t YOUR choice of president want to talk about the economy and unemployment rates. If it was as wonderful as you’d like to make it out, they would be a “shoe in” for re-election by merely pointing out their great success and referring to the strong thriving economy they created. Instead, they have to resort to baseless, hypocritical attacks, they keep trying to use, even AFTER they’ve been proven false. And please, try to follow along with the rhetoric. I accused you of nothing. If you feel I’m too abrasive, I apologize, I’m not trying to be. I merely have strong opinions. I am NOT a far right supporter. I am an independant that can see through the smoke screen currently being used. I liked Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and would have voted for Hillary if she would have gotten the nod.
