Not old enough for 1937, but we didn’t have air conditioning in the home where I grew up (neither did my wife) and in fact, our current home is the first one that has had central air conditioning. Our first ever vehicle with air conditioning was purchased in the mid 1980′s. However, it does make one wonder what the distribution of population would look like in the US if there was no air conditioning.
