I try and stay positive about our community but to have a state run golf tourney at Hillcrest should not happen. It’s a municipal course for a reason. The tourney should of been held at the Country Club as the course is back in great shape after 3 years of flooding.

I have to disagree with you Jim on your comments on where the course should have been held. Hillcrest is a beautiful course, but the park district should have put more effort into making the course ready for the players. The schedule is set early enough for this not to happen, along with an earlier than normal spring does not give everyone from Doug Hogan to John Ruff to Myron Bertsch any excuses for the course not to be ready. I also understand the Men’s Association was willing to lend a hand, but the course Super wasn’t able to schedule himself to be available for this volunteer group. Maybe someone else on his staff could have worked with the group to do the requirements. Anyway, please don’t let this happen again, Jamestown Park and Rec.

Sorry Peter but beautiful and Hillcrest just don’t go together. It all goes back to when the hired a fly by night contractor to do the new nine holes. They underseeded and put t boxes in that weren’t even level. All the greens are inconsistent from each other and when it rains the traps are nothing but mud puddles. I t was a much better course when it had the original 9.
