Gov. candidate Taylor: Dalrymple should say ‘no’ to oil industry donors
July 12, 2012 at 2:43 pm in Grand Forks Herald
The Democratic candidate for North Dakota governor criticized his opponent Thursday for taking campaign contributions from officers of energy companies doing business in North Dakota, saying they could influence how the governor performs his regulatory role. Continue Reading

I would suggest you research before you post again.
Taylor grew up on a cattle ranch in central ND. He has a degree in Agriculture from NDSU. He supports his family raising cows, fixing fence, and putting up hay. The guy has been wearing cowboys boots since he was old enough to walk and probably pulled calves out in the barn at 3am by the time he was 12. I suggest you ask when branding, dehorning, or castrating time comes around and see if you can stop in an watch. Then let me know he is a “false” cowboy then.

I have known Ryan all my life. My brother and I have worked at his and his neighbors ranch many times and Ryan is good at one thing and that is getting other people to do his work. He seldom is at his own ranch on working days and is almost never at his neighbors ranch. Ryan is not a rancher he is a politician. The only reason he is running for govenor is because he got redistricted and he knows he had no chance at beating O’Connel from Lansford.

Truly the most ridiculous thing a politician has said ever.
As if we are stupid enough to believe that the reason companies give to campaigns isnt for that very reason.
Want to impress me? Show me a candidate that pushes legislation through to halt Super Pacs and million dollar gifts from Corps at all levels.
Rid DC of Lobbyists and let politicians do their job for the people who voted them in instead of those who paid their way.
Until that day comes, dont waste my time with stupid quotes from outsiders like this knucklehead.
If the tables were turned Taylor would suck all the money out of them he could get.
Only difference is i dont know anyone else dumb enough to make that comment.

Captain: His name was John McCain and GW Bush’s Supreme Court nominees killed his attempts at control.
Money is speech didn’t you know? Those with the deepest pockets by definition have the biggest mouths.
I have not agreed with Taylor on much, but in this case I think he is spot on.

It doesnt matter what party it is, they’re all crooks when it comes to campaign money.
I wont even bother calling out any one party on this topic nor would i change their names to show my disdain “Dumbrumple” really? Thats as childish as those who use “Obummer” and “Faux News”
It just distracts from the argument because you feel like your answering a 12 year old.
The only “Real” story here is the fact that a Politician had the gall to call out another Politician for something they all do.

If elected ND and MN would both have Governor Goofy’s. It’s too bad the Democrats couldn’t find a better candidate.

Everyone knows it is the oil companies who will own North Dakota in the next few months.. You will never have a say so either.. Let history be your guide about the past in boom towns.. Western North Dakota will suffer the most..
After all grand forks built it’s town because of the Air Base.. You know where that went.. Laughter all the way.. Laugh clown laugh..

Yes laugh clown laugh.. It was in the 70′s when the proud people of grand forks was yelling at the people from the Grand Forks AFB calling us baby killers and trashed each time we went shopping in you stupid town.. Do you actually think I can forgive this community for their actions in the 70′s.. Our Airmen got beat up and you and your community back then forced out a fighter wing.. Later on it was the missiles and the B-52s because grand forks hated us so much.. After your support in your town.. And all the missiles was removed and the Air Craft departed from the base.. Now you people are crying these days.. You lost the Air Base trust.. grand forks can only blame themselves for how rude you was in the past.. I will never forget what your town people yelled at me..
So laughing at the clown today should mean to me I get the last laugh.. grand forks do not deserve this Air Base for any future government money with the Air Force..
Actually the Air Force have to make cuts in the past 2 decades.. Revenge is served cold.. They started the cuts with my desire to laugh at the whole city..
I was not impressed then.. grand forks only flows where the tide come.. in or out.. Where is the money sort of thinking?.. grand forks lost a lot because of it’s rude citizens in the 70′s
North Dakota is the most welfare state of all states.. They have received 0ver 20 times the money that they paid in.. Now that ND has money.. It’s pay back time..

Whether this was a good move on Taylor’s part or not, I could care less. The guy lives and breathes like 90% of us do here in the state. Dalrymple is a silver spooned liberal in sheep’s clothing who has no idea how the rest of us live here in ND. I am tired of putting rich kids in office who have no understanding of what it means to budget money, pay bills, try to save for our kid’s college education, etc..
Dalrymple doesn’t have a clue how the middle class works in this state.
Facts are facts: Dalrymple spent his K-12 in a prep school in Minneapolis and his higher education at an Ivy League school on the east coast. He has collected litterally millions in farm subsidy payments.
This isn’t about voting for a “D” or an “R”. It is about voting for somehow who can truly represent the people of ND. Not just the top 5% rich North Dakotans.
Taylor gets my vote.

See all those dislikes? Until it all falls apart around them they’ll continue to think that following the money will be the best for all the rest. I’m guessing a number of those are people sho at this time think it’s wonderful that these super charged super packs with money from who knows where is great because it’s helping someone they support……They don’t consider how it will be when that scale is tipped so heavely against someone they support in the future.
Personally…..All this money reminds me of the beginning of the end of a lot of empires throughout history……When so much is controlled from the top because that’s where all the income is…Eventually it all topples over and everyone not at the top ends up suffering. So shout warnings as you will, but it’s falling on a lot of deaf ears….

The reason for the dislikes is that people arent stupid.
You would be hard pressd to find one single educated person that believes Taylor would not accept the money if he were the one in office.
It would just be spun for the media to appear as the right thing to do.
Politicians are all interchangeable.
They may be different colors but everyone of them are the exact same shape when plugged into the position.

I believe the only people that should be allowed to contribute to a candidate should also be able to vote for that candidate. If someone, or a company, or an oraganization doesn’t live in North Dakota and can legally vote here, they shouldnt be able to give a North Dakota candidate money. These candidates, wether it’s for governor or senator, should not accept out of state money, they are suppose to represent us and our best interests, not be swayed by someone from out of state who gave them money.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court doesn’t agree with you. I really think after this election of over, we need to collectively say, “enough!” and vote in some reasonable controls on campaign spending and disclosure. We’ve only just seen the start of the nonstop political ads, most of which will be negative and inaccurte to boot. Yuck.

After all is said and done, Mr. Taylor should stick to the issues. Oil companies donate to elect Republicans. Unions trump those dollars electing Democrats. If the governor is breaking some law, that’s a different story. Otherwise, this is sour grapes and terribly ill-advised. I’m surprised that somebody in the Taylor camp didn’t have better adivce. I’m actually surprised the Democrats here don’t see through it.
