United Airlines announced Tuesday it will add flights between Williston and Denver, but letting the planes land was still up to the City Commission, which must balance short-term need for air service and long-term plans for its airport. Continue Reading

Best to move the airport 3-5 miles outside of town. It will reduce noise in residential areas and allow for additional development within the current city area. Both will be good for Williston.

I agree Glen. I do not live in Williston, but have seen the growth around the airport that was once on the edge of town. Now it is being surrounded by development. I wonder if the several new large hotels that built next to the airport will have an issue with the airport moving outside of town. There are currently 8 hotels (5 of them brand new) within walking distance to the current airport. But I agree, when you start bringing in jets, you don’t want them landing in the middle of town.

Why not have jets land in the middle of town? It is done that way all over the country.
