That is a nice area for apartments to students. Good location. Maybe just maybe enough development will occur so that some more commercial interests will develop along this area. Why there isnt a main grocery up in that northwest part of town is a mystery. Would seem like a good location.

There was one about 15 yrs. ago @ Univ. & 42nd. It was likely built because of the large housing area just north of Univ. Ave. & west of I-29. It is now the site of the convenience store. Of course all the apts. between 42nd & I-29 also provided customers. Many of those were there @ least 15 yrs. ago which spurred development of a supermarket. Maybe there weren’t actually enough customers but apparently the owners thought they would take a shot @ it anyway.

I believe it was a Miller’s Fairway located in the large building just west of the Loaf N Jug C store. It didn’t last long, and i think it was more like 20+ years ago. Meridian Environmental Technologies is in that building now.

I wonder if we’ll ever get a pedestrian/bike cross walk over the train yard at 34th st & Demers? It sure would make access onto UND campus easier from all of the apartments by Ray Richards Golf Course. UND wants more people to walk/bike to campus, this seems like a great place to start.

Great idea, and perfect location for student apartments. It will also take pressure off the University to build more dorms or married student apartments as the enrollment grows. I hope the city council doesn’t find some lame reason to not grant the zoning change it needs.
