THOMAS: Numbers prove Obama’s stimulus plan is a failure

President Obama’s attempt to spin the latest discouraging unemployment numbers as “a step in the right direction” is like telling passengers aboard the Titanic to ignore the sinking vessel and listen to the live music. Continue Reading

That anyone can read and believe this garbage is amazing. Mr. Thomas is taking every opportunity to blame Obama for the poor economy without admitting that is is the result of 8 years of republican deregulation, unpaid for tax cuts and two pointless wars followed by four years of incessant obstructionism!
Mr. Thomas goes on to give two very cherry picked unemployment rates. First, when Clinton came into his presidency in 1992, with an unemployment rate of 7.5% (also never mentioning that was a result of many years of republican administration), The biggest thing he left out was that at the end of the Clinton presidency unemployment was around 4%, the lowest in 30 years!. Second, he gives the rate of 6.5% in October 2008 during the end of the Bush presidency without going on to say that by December 2008, two months later it would be up to 7.2%.
Probably the most laughable part of this all is the following, “whether the country can stand another four years of incompetent, overspending, overtaxing government, or whether it should return to the safe harbor of living within our means”. Incompetent is the man who brought Osama Bin Laden to justice when Bush had said he “truly wasn’t that concerned about him”. Overspending is the administration that has cut the amount of government employees by 636,000, ended the Iraq Invasion and drastically reduced the number of troops in Afghanistan. He is called overtaxing even though the tax rates are at the lowest they have been in decades and after appeasing the republican 1%er’s in Congress with two more years of Bush tax cuts knowing they did not work. And last but not least, “returning to the safe harbor of living withing our means”…(?) this about knocked me off my chair! If taking the national debt from a surplus to trillions of dollars in deficit is living within our means i must have completely the wrong understanding of that phrase. No way he could be talking about the end of Bush Sr’s time in office either because he left a deficit too.
The fact is, eight years of a successful Progressive administration turned this country around in the Clinton years and it is those same Progressive values that we need to turn this country around now.
