Where are all the people that said they would go out to eat more if they got rid of the smoking? You got what you hoped for, take advantage of it. I quit smoking 5 years ago…but I got so tired of the whining I quit going out to eat. What’s your excuse?

I am guessing we do not have the whole story here. Is the statement “taverns and restaurants” mean tavern / restaurant combinations are doing slightly better….or taverns and restaurants ( separate establishments ) are dong better? In Duluth, all of the taverns / bars are doing much worse after the smoking ban went into effect! I do not believe for a minute, that Wisconsin bars are doing better….how does Wisconsin bars fare better than Minnesota bars….since the smoking bans went into effect? Don’t get me wrong….at different times, Minn bars are busy…..but, overall…..business is down…..substantially, in Minnesota! This story ( the way it is written ), is a spin towards the justification of the smoking ban. Wisconsin’s bar/restaurant business should be up only because of rising prices…..NOT at the notion of more business, caused by a ban on smoking! Not trying to promote smoking….just want a story to be written truthfully…..and without a bias or influenced by the anti-tobacco groups!
