Wind and roots on the prairie

HARDWICK Gates at the end of a half-mile-long driveway in Section 2 of Mound Township proudly announce the Christiansen family’s century-old roots on the prairie just north of the iconic Blue Mounds. Yet, it is the farmstead that wows visitors with its spread of original buildings, from the barn that was constructed in 1929 to the brick home completed shortly after World War II.
