Modular homes company in Montevideo, Minn., firing on all cylinders
July 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm in West Central Tribune
MONTEVIDEO Montevideo’s industrial park in the Smith Addition may be an unusual location to look for the start of a housing recovery, but it’s where you can find it.

Seems Obama’s stimulus did some good. The economy is improving and hopefully this is a sign of good things to come?

Somehow I doubt the President deserves credit for the oil fields where this housing is going to jimmy. In fact his actions have reduced jobs and the need for more homes in these areas by not allowing the pipeline.
I really can’t believe you said that jimmy.

Nice try Jenkins. First off the stimulus some where claiming did not create jobs did indeed, and in Minnesota a window company hired back 1500 workers laid off because of the stimulus. Now to say Obama deserves no credit is like saying a General whose troops win a major battle should not get the credit for the victory because he did not fight. Also you are wrong Jenkins, if anything the presidents policies of helping many homeowners in foreclosure has worked despite some of the problems with banks, and who actually owns the property. Next the feds thanks to the President and Justice Dept. have stepped up their fight against housing fraud, and healthcare fraud, that is in the billions. After the housing collapse they are still finding out how deep the fraud and predatory lending actually was. The house of cards came tumbling down in 2007 costing millions their homes.
I have found no evidence that Obama caused any loss of jobs in the housing market and how could he when the jobs were lost before he became President? Recently on world news tonight they spoke of the increase in home building and jobs in the housing market, so what did Obama do to cause any job losses? The Republicans have not created one jobs program and in fact they did everthing else but create jobs. Republicans wanted no part of the jobs bill pomoted by Obama to repair our infrastucture
Instead they went after welfare, foodstamps, SS, Medicare, unemployment, housing, unions, Pensions, collective bargining. They asked for more contributions to healthcare and Pensions knowing full well many forgone their raises and took days off without pay. They hurt the teachers, firefighters, Police, Paramedics, and seem to nearly bring down the economy that was trying to recover with their willfull contempt towards the President. Of course before Bush left he passed over a trillion in bailouts for banks, and insurance co’s. in 2008. Also the Presidents do not have a whole lot of control over the oil as we seen with Bush who was unable to get Saudi to open up their valves while gas prices under him averaged 407 a gallon. Under Obama they average 336 since he became President. It is a fact Presidents don’t seem to have a good deal of control when it comes to oil as we all learned in 2007, and 2008. Our economy, our housing market and our jobs were in the tank in 2008, and 8yrs of bad policies and corporate control of the Whitehouse didn’t help. This also brings me to an interesting quote by a great President of the people when apporached by a corporate insider. The president stated “the Whitehouse is not for me to sell, it belongs to the American People” H.T.

jimmy posted ” First off the stimulus some where claiming did not create jobs did indeed, and in Minnesota a window company hired back 1500 workers laid off because of the stimulus”
Now is your chance to provide a link to the “fact” you just posted.

This discussion is about the manufactured homes coming out of Montevideo. These are going to the oil fields and Obama is not a friend of these oil fields and can take no credit for any related economic improvements in these areas.
Stick with the story and the facts jimmy.

Jimmy you’re right there were alot of years of bad policy. The bad policies I think were the worst came from, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, lending agencies. Tell me who was in charge of them, during the Bush administration?

Why did Bush pass those bailouts Jimmy. Do you remember he asked B.O. if he wanted him to pass them before he left office, and B.O. said yes? So whose bailouts are they? I guess if you want to play the blame game, they could be considered Bush’s. If you want to be honest, they both get credit.
And by the way I believe both parties are selling the White House, and it isn’t the goverments number one job to “take care of the people”

I think a correction is needed. The first half of the TARP funds($350B) had been authorized in October, 2008. Might inject here, the TARP funds were a joint agreement between Geithner, Obama, Paulson, and Bush.
Obama, in December, 2008, asked Bush to have Congress give the release on the second half of TARP (the second $350B)because Obama could see there were greater problems coming down the pike which needed early release so that when Obama took over, Obama would have those funds at his immediate use for any needs.

Just because it’s a long post doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be read. At least by people who really are interested in what a poster has to say?

Not only is it difficult to read but it also contains all kinds of fantasies. The information is so inaccurate with facts such as gas under Bush averaged 4.07 a gallon. It doesn’t take much to research that claim to find it false.
I would suggest jimmy actually research what he posts before he comments. It is those kind of comments that feed the hatred that comes from both sides.
Jimmy is part of the problem not the solution.

As one can see, when challenged for providing information, you get nothing. Much the same as long posts from some are nothing but daily talking point memos, tornadic comments(spin), baseless facts, and rhetoric opinion.
To the point posts should be the norm.

Jimmy, there is a reason gas under B.O.averages at 3.36 per gallon. When Obama took over the White House gas was under 2.00!

Gas was $1.78 the day President Obama took office. That would be half of what it is now and far less then the average monthly price of gas under the current administration. When President Clinton left office the price of gas was $1.47 a gallon.
It hasn’t been under $3.00 a gallon in years, guess that means President Obama will be most likey be responsible for the biggest jump in gas prices in our countries history when he leaves office in January 2013.

Doesn’t it bother anybody that the GOP claims they have a fix for the economy but you don’t hear about it much. If they have good ideas I’d like to hear them. You would think they would be trying to sell them(ideas) to the public. Instead of blaming Obama for everything tell me what their fricking plan is and how they’d pay for it. Are they going to reveal them after the election, and if their ideas are so good why not help the country now?

First of all Goodbye Freedom, where is the proof gas was under 2.00 a gallon? I am curious to what site you can provide? We were dealing with gas just over 4.00 a gallon in 2007 and 2008, were small business went under. How in the world do you come up with 2.00? Also for the record Obama and McCain were for the bailout as Presidential candidates only if there was over sight. Ex CEO Paulsen from Golden Sach was working in the Bush administration and drafted the 3 page bailout for over 700B. In Mr Paulsen’s first page was a clause removing the courts and anyone else from over seeing the bailout. Both parties voted NO for the bailout when first presented, but a speedy weekend rush to vote seem to have got the job done. Distortion of facts during the Bush era is typical for some, but looking up some of these issues on Google, I usually see a very different story.

Are you talking manufactured or modular, they have differences. Modular homes are built just like a stick-built but in two halves and they don’t have a frame like a trailer would. They are considered permanent. A manufactured home can be moved if need be.

Seems like there are a lot of GOP followers living in “Pre-Fab” homes in the south. They blindly follow the mantra of the GOP and collect food stamps while thinking that Democratic programs are evil. They don’t care about facts and feel entitled because they are “Mericans”.

$12.00 an hour clear down south is a good wage with 4 years of college and 5 years as a teacher!! And they want to North to get these wages also- have they slipped over the edge?

Leroy she is speaking of attemps by some Republicans to remove collective bargining, pay more of a contribution to healthcare and pensions or change them to 401k’s. Some Republicans also want the right to work bill passed that was thankfully shot down which is more the right to pay a lower wage. This bill has nothing to do with protecting workers but serves to undermine unions, who again don’t cause businesses to close or go over seas.
