Did you ever hear the story about the 5 Sullivan bro’s on the Juneau in WW2?

With that kind of thinking family members shouldn’t ride in vehicles together.

Didn’t all of these people know that they could get deployed when they signed up? When they cashed their checks?

do they get paid? I believe that it is a job -not one I want but a job with pay benifits vacation etc. So calling then “volunteers” is a little off. I am from the Vitnam generation where when you returned home you were instructed NOT to wear your uniform to avoid confruntation now if some one is in the service they are ranked above god- the truth is somwehere inbetween

They are volunteers, there is no draft anymore. They know what could happen and sign up anyway.

What is your point? I noticed you said Vietnam generation and not Vietnam Vet so your misunderstanding of our volunteer military is understandable, sad and pathetic, but understandable. Just please enjoy the freedom these men and women provide you.

Sung to the tune of “Tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree”…
I’m sitting here in Iraq,
And I wish my head had eyeballs in the back.
It’s a bummer that my hummer isn’t armored to a “T”.
Show me your support; you spend a Dollar ninety three.
A Dollar ninety three.
Oh, Stick magnetic ribbons on your SUV,
Keep your apathy and get off scott-free.
If I don’t see a ribbon on that SUV,
I’ll call you a red,
Wish you were dead,
Put the blame on weed.
If I don’t see a ribbon on that SUV.
Please don’t send me to Iran.
And I sure don’t wanna see Afghanistan.
Any day now I could be another grunt sporting a stump.
So buy another ribbon while you’re paying at the pump.
You’re paying at the pump.
Go stick another ribbon up your SUV.
Stick your apathy up your passivity.
If I see another ribbon on that SUV:
I’ll flip you the bird and make the word of the day; complacency.
So stick that stupid ribbon up your S-U-V
—
Now the whole damn world is bleeding
And the last thing that we need
is another magnetic ribbon on that gas-guzzling SOB…

If you mean why do they even have to deploy, I agree with you.

Oh man…that has to be the worst video on youtube…no offense of course. The lyrics are okay and I see you left out a few words but the video is…well it’s ah…bad. I’m just giving my honest review. You posted it so it’s up for debate.
I would rather watch Foster The People sing Pumped Up Kicks..which I will do right now before I go to bed…but then again once I put the ear phones on I can’t take them off.

It’s pretty easy to disparage these fine men and women from the comfort of your mother’s basement. If you’ve never put your life on the line in the defense of this Nation you have no credibility judging these warriors. God speed Bulldogs and may all of you return safely!
